I've noticed that with external speakers plugged into my MBP (15" C2D) it seems to have trouble staying asleep. But I just woke it up from a good hour nap with no speakers plugged in and it seemed to work just fine.

Am I making things up or is there a possibility the speakers are interfering with the sleep mode?

How could that be? They don't communicate back down into the MBP, they just accept an input out of the MBP.

My MBP seems to have trouble staying asleep unless I put it to sleep twice in a row. I think it's my iPhone that's causing it.

Except that some computers, including the MBP, can tell if something is plugged in. That's what made me wonder if that was somehow making the computer wake up.
