Just learned about Airdrop from a friend today. Can I set it to download to desktop instead of downloads folder? Thanks.

I don't think so. How about creating a symbolic link to your Downloads folder on the Desktop?

Thanks Oreo/ Andi... I'm not a big fan of alias idea.. I just put download in sidebar, which is fine, but you both agree it's a pity you can't tell airdrop to drop on desktop?

One thing I've always wanted also for years: is save as to default to desktop not home, documents, that is still not possible either correct?

No, the best you can do is move it to your sidebar or have the Desktop appear as one of your favorites. By design you shouldn't put all your stuff on the Desktop.

Thanks, O, I don't keep too much clutter on Desktop, but I like anything saved or downloaded to go there first usually.

What are favorites? I never use that....

And one still cannot save as to desktop, get default to that instead of documents? (mostly word/ excel and few other)

Usually for me, most applications default to the last place I saved. Which could be the desktop, dropbox, or some other place when I'm at work and use multiple servers.

In 20 years I'm on Mac defaults are mostly to documents, Mac docs, which I don't use, would pay money to be able to change that.

go to save as. In the dialog box, hit apple/command-d. it will direct to desktop until you change it again.

Instead of command S and then it shows... desktop as a the default.

So it's command s and the command D, -- lot of unnecessary command D 's over the years!

Bit overpriced for one micro feature that Mac should offer. I guess I asking every few years: can I still not default save as to the desktop and not docs folder?
