Ok... I just downloaded FreeBSD and am about to buy a second hand Wintel...
Just to use FreeBSD on.
But... I need to burn the file.
It downloaded as a .iso file. An ISO image I think.
So...
Can I burn it and make it bootable using Toast 4 Deluxe?
I assume there are configuration files present that control the bootability... so thats ok I think.
I'm just worried about burning from this image file, incase Toast doesn't recognise it.
It doesn't switch automatically to disk image mode, although that is to be expected.
When I drag it onto the window when set to ISO 9660 mode, it comes up, called UNTITLED_CD.
I assume its reading it ok then.
But... it shouldn't be called 'untitled'...
Anyone got any experience with anything like this?
TIA

Toast should burn your image file with no problem (actually this won't work with some toast 'updates' applied.

As long as the image was one of a bootable cd in the first place, the resultant cd should be bootable.

Simply let Toast know that you're burning from a disk image (I don't have it in front of me at the moment, so I can't tell you exactly what the option looks like) and supply your image file.

BTW: What you've done in your message will create a ISO9960 cd with a single file (your image!) in it....

I've burned many bootable CD's from Mandrake Linux iso images using Toast.

1) Make sure you choose "Disc Image" in Toast.
2) Don't ever mount the image. I don't know about current versions of Toast, but it used to render the burnt CD un-bootable.

That's it!
