i am going to buy a new unibody macbook pro 17" tomorrow.
and i was wondering, is the new one or the old model better?
i thought the new one was until i read a thread and people were saying the old is better,
but why?
can somebody explain why the old one is better? aside the price difference.
which does help a lot, but i'd rather know the spec reason. :O

thank you.

Some people may have not liked the idea of the integrated battery on the new 17" MBP. Personally, I love the idea of an 8h battery that lasts a 1000 cycles so IMHO that's baloney.

Otherwise the new 17" is fine. It's faster, has the great sturdy unibody enclosure, comes with a very bright LED-backlit screen, has a high resolution, and did I mention the battery lasts 8h?

The only reason I'd get the last generation is if I were on a very tight budget. You can get the previous generation for $1999 in the refurb store.

For the 17", I'd go with the new one. But I would check it out at a store if you could first, because you may not like the glossy display. You can BTO the 17" with a anti-glare screen for $50 extra. But other than that minor detail, there would be no reason to go with an old one, unless you were on a budget like Simon suggested.
