I know, I know, the only good 5200 is a dead one . . . but . . but, I got it for free!
Anyway, nothing happens when I turn on the power. Any ideas on what's up? I've been thinking that it needs a new power supply (= time to go to the dump), but if it's something less drastic I thought it might make a good word processor / emailer. Any thoughts?

Might be a power supply. Might try replacing the PRAM battery. If I remember right, the 5200s used a 4.5v square battery attached with Velcro. You can get one for around $10.

Sorry if this is silly, but ... did you hit the power key on the keyboard after turning it on (on the back)?
The computer isn't that bad, esp. if you have the AV inputs. I have one that is still running. Even had it serving small web pages for awhile. Now, I'm using it primarily to view video from security cameras.

Thanks. You remembered correctly. The 5200 does take a square 4.5v. I'm going to try to borrow one from our tech person.

Thanks. I'm pretty sure that when I originally determined that it was dead a few months ago, I did the rear switch and power key to no avail. What the heck, I'll try it again!
Unfortunately, mine doesn't have the AV. I used to work on a beige G3 with AV. That was pretty fun.
