Yup. Fender dropped the ball over the last 60 years by not protecting the body designs (and worrying only about the shape of and name on the headstock) of the Telecaster®, Stratocaster®, and Precision Bass®. These body shapes are now public domain. I always wondered why there were so many copies of these designs. It appears that, until recently, Fender either didn't care, or simply felt it was more trouble to go after the rip-offs than it was worth.

Just don't try to copy the Jazz Bass® or Jazzmaster® designs - they are patented.

If only Ibanez were in the same situation (I'm not a huge Strat fan).

Pretty cool info though.

Now there's a company which needs to die in a hurry. Barstewards.

Why?

I've owned many Ibanez guitars, and I like them quite a bit.

I currently own nine Ibanez guitars, and I like them quite a bit. But the company needs to die. Why? Well...

They discontinued the EdgeAdjust.
They discontinued the SR1000.
They discontinued the neck-through S.
They discontinued the Edge.
They discontinued the nice burl top S.
They discontinued the 540RLTD.
Any colour you like as long as it's some form of black or baby-poop brown.
They never answer emails. Ever.

I could think of more, but it's early yet.
It's like Jeep. Good product (or at least used to be) - donkeyorifice company.

I'm not passionate about either brand, but I do own an Yngwie Strat and an Ibanez S540.

Wow. I love Jeeps, too. I guess I'll go stand in the corner.

My guitar teacher used to call them “I’ve-been-had-s”.

I'm guessing you're not talking about Joe Satriani.

Nah, he said I've-been-had-s, not I'm-has-been-s.
