Version 1.0 for Panther is Now Available!
• Includes Regular and Regular Blackmenu variants,
• Finder button, iChat and other "fixed" for Panther,

Version 1.0 Contains:
• Regular and Regular Blackmenu variants,
• Two wallpapers and a cursor set,
• Application skins for Address Book, Calculator, Help Viewer, iChat, Installer, iTunes, Mail, Preview, Safari and VLC
• Love and lots of hugs

There have been quite a few emails and questions on a few places about Niqu related things so I thought, before I go to bed, I’d answer a few I get.

Q: Does Niqu theme everything?
A: No. As far as I’ve seen, no theme does. 1.0 is not a one-hundred percent complete project and isn’t going to claim to be. Everything I started out intending to do, I’ve done for this initial release. That does mean a few applications aren’t done.

Q: What colours does Niqu have?
A: As of 1.0, it will only have Regular and Regular Blackmenu. I intend to release an updated guiKit with new colours in a timely fashion later on, perhaps rolling them in to a 1.1 update.

Q: If an element isn’t themed, should email you?
A: Preferably not, unless you find what you believe to be a bug. My beta testers were very thorough and seemed to find any issues. If something is obviously unthemed (for example: The view buttons in Address Book) then it’s either a: A limitation or b: intentional.

Things such as some Address Book images and QT7 are limitations. Things like Menu Extras and iPhoto are intentional. I see no need for Menu Extras to be changed, they work perfectly already, and iPhoto was never on my list for 1.0.

Q: So what’s in 1.1?
A: That would be telling.

Q: Can I beta-test updates?
A: Thanks for offering but I’ve already got a list of trusted friends and people that test for me. Please do not email me asking!
Sorry for the late posting this on MacNN.

Right click, copy the link, paste it somewhere and remove the "guikit://" in front of it.

Very cool theme. Not sure I love the light blue color under the titlebar on the SS preview. Good work and thanks!

Im on 10.3.9....there a few bugs in terms of the back and forward buttons in finder and safari...Am I correct in assuming that this theme is not fully supported on panther?

And just an FYI...when I initially saw the mockups of this theme, I thought it was nice but didn't think I would use it. I have to say this is by far my favorite theme, it is very clean, professional, and USABLE....Thanks so much

Photo678:
This is straight from Rick's website, VanillaSoap.

Niqu 1.0 is now available to download, just take a glance at the sidebar. Please note this initial release is OS X Tiger only and may “break” under Panther. I’ll be releasing two subsequent guiKits in the future, Niqu XC, containing extra colours, and Niqu for Panther, which obviously is meant to be a 10.3 compatible version.
I added the BOLD.

The Panther version will be coming out later.

Niqu is a beautiful theme. I think the titlebar widgets and the overall look of the finder is really the best i've seen, however i'm having a really hard time trying to work in Adobe CS with the black buttons. I think a version with less black in favor of more muted gray would be perfect.

i love this theme. the shape to the finder windows and buttons are beautiful. not a big fan of the blue highlights though. and the apple menu icon looks a tad small...but otherwise, beautiful! good work : )

[edit]and itunes is amazing!

Love the theme, am I the only one with a missing Dock background?

Edit: its not missing the BG its just real transparent. I noticed this after sliding a window under it.

First of all, thanks for the great theme, but....
could we get an installer package to apply Niqu without the infamous ShapeShifter ?
Like Max (http://www.maxthemes.com/) is doing for Smoothstripes and aquaextreme btw !

No, because Niqu requires ShapeShifter to look nice (for font colours for example).

One lil suggestion: I'm not sure I entirely like the look of those flatter, square buttons. Like the ones in the PS palette. I think a lighter, more gray look would be better.
That aside, this is one of the nicest themes I've ever used. Great work.

niqu is a great theme. iTunes rocks. some issues, like text not visible in certain windows e.g. "select all" in sys pref or email addresses in entourage as it remains black are minor and might be corrected in a future release. overall very usable and elegant theme.

The "Show All" text is not themable at this time, no theme can change it yet. Any application you're having problem with, with button text colours and stuff is because they are coding that colour in to their application.

(/Me puts that on a sticky, due to sick of repeating it)

this is an amazing theme. The only thing that prevents me from using it daily is the bright blue highlights. I am very looking forward to more muted/subdued color variations of the theme.

Otherwise, great theme.
