trying to install [panther], no destination volume

i just bought [panther], but when i restart to install, the system just boots into regular osx. even while pressing the c key. if i open the install mac os x package, same result. any suggestions?

Sounds remarkably like the same problem you're having with Tiger in the other thread.

I'd suggest you've got a faulty version of "Panther" (???) and to ask Apple for their assistance (they should replace it for you if you just bought it).

If this is a legitimate copy of Panther that boots other machines, then you likely have a bad optical drive.
