Apple should jump on this:

They should use the same concept, only with a slotdrive.
Put a glowing apple logo on the back, a stand and a dock.
Sell them for $500.00.
Who wouldnt buy one?

exactly. I have a 12" highly portable DVD player in my powerbook, if I ever felt the need to use it as such.

now, i know you're going to come back with portability, etc.. i'm just stating that it would be a decent idea. people could import their iMovies, burn iDVDs etc.. then they could take them with them. could also integrate iPhoto, when the video player is idle, it could cycle through your photos, like a digital picture frame. wireless sVideo.. etc.

Which would kill the battery very fast.
If a low cost solution, plus the battery technology were there, I think Apple would do a video iPod. A constantly moving display on an LCD/TFT, plus a constantly spinning HDD (if you had any decent quality video) kills your battery pretty fast. You can't work around it.
We aren't talking about several 4MB songs that can be buffered into memory and last for several minutes without accessing the HDD.

you could get three hours out of it, that's enough for a movie. the iPhoto slideshow could work when it's docked only.
as far as imovies go, they could be burned to dvd discs, with the included superdrive, then taken with you. i'm talking about having no physical hard drive whatsoever.

I would never use such a device. Much less pay $500 for it.
