My mom has a G5 that is running OS X 10.5.8 and I noticed today that the menu bar randomly flashes like crazy, it doesn't just flash it's kind of like when you're tv is trying to get a signal. Everything else seems to be working ok, finder opens just fine and the volume is up. Anyone have any other ideas of what could be causing this?
Thanks!

Never seen that problem before. Try holding Shift at startup for Safe Mode and see if the flashing continues.

Is the clock set to flash the time separators? If my MBP is and the desktop is a certain colour, it does that.

IME, all menubar problems go away if you disable menu transparency in System Preferences.

The new Mac Pro has up to 30 MB of cache inside the processor itself. That's more than the HD in my first Mac. Somehow I'm still running out of space.

Didn't there used to be a setting in Universal Access to have the menu bar flash for notifications?

On OS 9 it was like that. I don't know when they changed it to flashing the entire screen, but it must have been before 10.5.
