Despite being on the list of compatible handsets, many users of Google's Nexus 4 handset are discovering issues with the new Android 4.3 upgrade. Commonly-reported issues include overheating, rapid battery drain, frequent crashing while in use, and a perpetual loop during device boot, rendering the device unusable.
Other users have found the device functioning too slow to be usable. Scattered reports are showing passwords not being requested, preventing unlock of the device. Additionally, some users are reporting no multitouch capability. More problems reported, but less frequently, are reception issues, disappearing data, and missing applications.
Some users have found that a device erase and factory reset have resolved the problems, which, of course, purges all user data and necessitates a reinstall of all applications. Not all users are reporting problems with the upgrade.
Electronista has spoken with 14 Nexus 4 users, with five reporting issues with the new Android update. Two of the five found a factory reset fixed the overheating issue, one is dealing with the multitouch issue until he has time to rectify the issue, and two with persistent crashing are contacting Google to attempt to have the handset replaced. Google has as of yet no comment on the matter.

I thought this was normal for Android phones. At least, that's what they were like when I still worked in IT.

One would presume worse than normal, then.
