Hi,

My 17'' is getting here on Tuesday...
Have not left Taiwan yet

but i need a bag!!!!
I have read the thread for bags but there was too much information and mixed with the sleeves.

So I propose if you have time to reply here in the form of:

bag I have or would like to get: Name
type: backpack/messanger/briefcase
price-range:
advantages:
disadvantages:

Please let's keep this only for 17'' bags
and not for sleeves...

After some time let's agreegate and post the results.

Thanks!!!!

I could not sleep yesterday !!!!

www.sfbags.com. I got the Suite Spot for the 17". Comes with bag, sleeve, and cord pouch for $175. Real nice and doesn't look as geeky and plain as most others and built solid with durable material. Will last a lifetime.
I don't need no stinkin' signature!

Gotta go with Bluejam on this.

bag I have: sf bags, RacerX
type:briefcase
price-range:139
advantages:Well built, attention to detail.
disadvantages:Needs one more outside pocket to be perfect.

Not a big bag, but plenty of room for day to day stuff. If you need more room go for the Cozmo, or Cargo.

My review on the Brenthaven Shoulder Case Pro 17" PB bag should be helpful...it's certainly the one I'd recommend, and you can find it cheapest at www.macconnection.com

Prada Sport tech fabric laptop bag with detachable shoulder straps: $400-$500. Minimalist and stylish.

I have a spire Volt XL bag. It is great, if huge, but I guess you would need that in a bag for BigAl. Lots of room. Not that heavy, hey when your laptop is almost 7lb. this matters. The only modification I made was to add a black and white Apple patch to it to distinguish it from other bags at the airport. I had a Brenthaven bag which was heavier and smaller in capacity.

http://www.acmemade.com makes a fantastic bag for the powerbooks, 12, 15, and 17".

Close-cell foam inside, zipper that seals waterproof when closed... amazing bags.
If this post is in the Lounge forum, it is likely to be my own opinion, and not representative of the position of MacNN.com.

Just bought the Volt XL by Spire. Can't wait for it to come. Looks like a great bag...and they gave me 15% off after I paid the full amount and then discovered a discount code. Great, friendly customer service. They responded to my emails very quickly.

I have the Sportfolio and I love it. Very rugged, excellent construction, very slim, but if you need to put something with some bulk to it (like the power adapter and stuff like that) the noeprene stretches to fit in in there nice and snug. It's defintely not for someone who carries around alot of little stuff with them, but if you just carry your power book and power adapter along with some paperwork, it's a great bag. And for the price, you can't beat it.

It's like a wetsuit for my powerbook with all the neoprene.

I am using Tom Bihn bags for some time now and very happy with it. It does justthe job it needs to do. The sleeve uses velcro and does not leave any scratches on the powerbook. Recently some stupid security guy dropped the computer in the sleeve on the grond and fortunately the computer survived the 5 feet drop. Needless to say that the guy nor his superior took the time to apologize for the inconvenience.

I just got the Jansport Lap Station. The 17" PB fits great in its back padded area. it has a great attachable pocket for cables etc. extra one for cd's and cd player and lots lots of space. the feel is very good considering the weight over the shoulders. Since I drive a bike this is crucial to me. Highly recommended.
