not me... I've had perfect reliability with the current firmware. Why risk it?

I'm very happy with the current firmware at the moment.

My thoughts exactly. Just got a bluetooth-capable cell phone (Sony Ericsson T637) - it works just fine now and I don't want to kill my new abilities.

might be worth reading the documentation; the update only supports very specific stuff:
The Bluetooth Firmware Updater is for D-Link USB Adapters (revision B2 or later), and Apple internal Bluetooth modules on PowerBooks and PowerMacs. This firmware update will improve connectivity between the computer and the Apple Wireless Keyboard and Mouse. Use this updater for the modules specified above; this updater is unsupported with any other Bluetooth modules. Important: Applying this firmware updater to a D-Link USB to Bluetooth adapter will make it incompatible with non-Macintosh systems.
enjoy! (if u need it)

I've updated mine. No problems so far. I do normally have a very intermittent connection between my Apple BT k/b and my Powerbook, so I hope that this will address it. Will report back either way.

But when will they support audio gateway from a cellular phone?
I would love to use my powerbook as a microphone/speaker-system for my T610.

Thats it... nothing happens.
I hit the quit button and restarted the machine. Now the internal bluetooth module cant even be detected...
son of a....
anyone know how to fix this or have a similar problem?

I've had this problem since the last BT upgrade. The supposed solution is to do the usual -- zap PRAM, reset PMU etc... but it didn't work for me. I still have no BT...

actually, I fixed it.
I ran the apple hardware test and booted back into the OS. The card is recognized again and the firmware update was successful.

Anyone know why it does indeed take 15 mins (as indicated in the information)?
On mine it uploaded in bursts lasting about 30 seconds followed by 30 seconds of the device processing the upload followed by another 30 second burst of upload... and so-on repeating this upload-processing cycle more than a dozen times (actually I did not count). Does it have to cool down or something weird? Or is there a special low bandwidth route for the firmware to go down and the 30 second processing is actually a verification (read-back).
Anyway no problems before or after update. I switched off all Bluetooth devices before update.
(PB Al 1.5GHz, Palm T3, Sony Ericsson T610, Apple wireless keyboard).

Finally, after six months of no BT, I manually downloaded the updater and ran it, and my BT is finally back!
According to System Profiler, the Product Id is $8203 Vendor 1452, which is the same as it was before it was broken by the last update all those months ago.
When it was broken, the Product Id was $ffff!

I was happy with the original BT firmware and then they released 1.1 some time back that seemed to make it harder to find my Apple BT mouse.
Now the newest one (1.2) will find the mouse and keyboard instantly! Thanks Apple! I'd say if you've got 1.1 definately upgrade to 1.2!

has anyone tried the update with a MS bluetooth mouse? I am afraid to install it because everything is pretty much running properly. Id hate to install an update just for a second removed from the initial lag time.

I installed it and it seems to have helped connectivity considerably with my Apple BT mouse. I had not been able to use it consistently at all until this latest update. In fact, I'd thrown it in the computer bag and didn't plan on using it again at all!

Had to edit this post. Mouse stopped working again after about 12 minutes of use. Useless.
