I should have probably posted this in the Software forum, but I figured most of you who have read/responded to this thread may know what's going on.

I d/l'd Skin-a-Dock and folled the installation insturction (copy to library->preference panes). So I go to System preferences and to Skin-a-Dock and tell it I want "fire" as my Dock "theme". It seems as its doing something, but it just stays that way. No freeze, no system slow down, no nothing, including no fire on my Dock.

Am I doing something wrong?

How come none of the "services" (see screenshot above) are functional? They always seem to be grayed out.

the little note symbol in the menubar is an app called M-beat which is basically an itunes controller which resides in the menu bar, neat little program.

I can answer some.

The Icons are from www.xicons.com
There are 7 sets right now. Download em all!

The Theme is from www.resexcellence.com
It is called BeOS.. obviously.

The Dock can be modified by ClearDock.
Get that at www.unsanity.com
You won't regret it.

But I don't know where the little MP3 player floater is from. Is that a remote or an actual player? I hope it's a remote for iTunes.

alright, jasoco has alrady answered most...

well, i got the icons directly from http://mc.clintock.com/first_floor/s...cons/index.php but thats the same as from www.xicons.com i used iconfactorys candybar for replacing the system-icons.

the theme is from http://swizcore.com should also be the same as on resexcellence, maybe a bit more up to date, not sure.

for modifying the dock, i used transparent dock, you can get it here: http://www.freerangemac.com/Software...tDock1.5.8.hqx

the mp3-player is audion, using lostbois quicksilver face: www.lostboi.com honestly, i prefer itunes over audion (because of its browser), but for the screenshot i used audion.
jasoco: what is a remote player? is there a way to change itunes skin? i so, please tell me :-)

Ok.. I'll answer all your questions in the order you asked..

A remote is an app that controls iTunes (Or another MP3 player.) In the Mac universe, most control iTunes because you can make them look like anything. I use X-Tunes right now which hides until you need it at which point (When you hold down a certain key combo) it appears and you can control the player.

Skinning iTunes isn't what you think. It just replaces resources. The player still looks the same but has different graphics, which is why I was hoping that little floater you had was a remote.

The remotes work by sending system commands to iTunes in the background making it so you can hide iTunes and just use the remote. I'm hoping for a skinnable iTunes remote which I can use but so far, there aren't much.

I'll take a SS of my desktop again later.

It's NOT easy. Jaguar likes to make it difficult to change icons on apps without actually hacking them. Yadda, yadda, yadda. Basically, paste new icons onto the apps you want to. I've explained this so many times. I am almost sure I explained it on a previous page here. Or in ArsTechnica's version of the SS thread. And on DeskMod.

It's easy, just think about it for a second. You'll realize how to do it.
