Ever since installing 7B85 (I am in ADC... legit means) I have noticed that there is a long lag (2-5 seconds) between the time I click on the iTunes window and the time it is ready to be used. This happens in minimized mode and when the window is closed.

Sometimes I even get the beachball as iTunes is coming up.

Is this a universal problem... or am I alone here?

Same here. I also found lags when switching songs. Also the visuals frame rate has dropped compared to jaguar.

Maybe a new itunes update (iTunes 5?) on 16th will fix these problems....

Does anyone actually know anything about an "iTunes 5" coming out tomorrow? All I have heard was that they are releasing iTunes for Windows. Are the "iTunes 5" comments just a hopeful guess?

This lag is so annoying. I don't think iTunes 5 will be released tomorrow but I do think an update for the mac will come that is more tuned for panther.

Well, I really hope so because the lag is pissing me off.

From MacRumors.com:

..."One series of notes claim that iTunes 4.1 (not iTunes 5) will be arriving tomorrow alongside Quicktime 6.4. The new version of iTunes is said to allow the syncing of voice notes between the iPod and your Mac... suggesting that voice recording would be coming to the iPod..."

We'll have to wait and see I guess....

At what time is this iTMS event tomorrow?
I could take Sean Connery in a fight... I could definitely take him.

A nice bump would be nice, but I sure hope they don't change anything...

Streaming music from my home computer to my work computer was very cool...

for about a week.

This is my only problem with Panther! I hope there'll be an update to iTunes tomorrow.

Other than that, Panther rocks! I just have to say it, but Apple is better then I've ever seen them before. And I've been an avid Mac fan since 1990!

With on-the-fly downsampling.

Full-bitrate streaming is next to useless.

I don't recall having problems with the interface lagging.. well not much more then the interface itself.

I *DID* have problems with the sound.. switch apps and it starts cutting out.. anything cpu intensive.. more cutting out!

I noticed that iTunes skipped under panther when I had the trackpad button depressed on my iBook. EG, if i browse the library using keys its, fine, but using the trackpad button to press the scoll arrow causes skips.

Its bizarre, and definitely exclusive to panther. Hopefully fixed with an iTunes update of some kind.

Really? I'm getting cutting out and static bursts from time to time (often under load) on 10.2.8.

(Still.)

I just deleted all stuff related to iTunes, and all caches and then reinstalled - seems better now - but has only been a few min since i reinstalled. Hopefully it wont go back to the beachballing and lag.
