People have complained about the look of the new buttons, and there has been a hack to change the look of the buttons (CageFighter).

One complaint that I haven't heard yet (here at least) is not being able to put your mailbox listing on the right hand side rather than the left. My wife would like this...

So, hackers... come up with a way for us to:

1) customize buttons
2) customize that blue shade in the mailbox pane
3) move the mailbox pane to the right

You'll make my wife happy... we might even be willing to pay a shareware fee for your efforts...

ShapeShifter 2.1 can do the first two items in your list. Use ThemePark 2.1 (out tomorrow) to change the buttons and the color, export a guiKit, apply with ShapeShifter.

No clue on #3.

Oh yeah, one other thing. You know how Mail used to display for each folder (including the Inbox) the total number of messages, the total size of all the messages, the number deleted (if you're not using a Trash mailbox), and the total size of those deleted messages? Yeah, we'd like that back too. Anyone know how?

Thanks for the suggestions so far. Maybe eventually we'll get Mail to stop looking like Outlook.

What happened to the AppleScript menu for mail? Also, AppleScripts that reference selected message do not appear to work for me. Anyone else having this problem?

How did it come to this? Goodbye PowerPC. | sensory output

I would love to be able to change the background color of the mailbox pane without resorting to a haxie like ShapeShifter.

1) Tiger mail icons are UGLY. Nobody likes them
2) Tiger's icons are UGLY too! (home folders, folders, etc)

I'm having the same problem--applescript menu has vanished from Mail...there IS a sort of OS-universal script menu on the right side of the menu bar, but my Mail script or two have disappeared.

Strangely, Mail help leads you to applescript at apple.com, but the link to apple.com/applescripts/ is redirected to a new generic scripting site, and the reference IN IT (!!!) to applescripts merely returns you to the same generic site.

I'm going to start a new thread on this issue.

Some people do like the new mail icons, i'm getting used to them, but when I first saw them I was a bit disappointed.

The Finder icons folders etc, do need a refresh, Apple should just commission someone to do it.

I tried Mail Fixer, but with only one rather plain theme, it got a little boring.

Max's SmoothStripes and Aqua Extreme themes for Tiger give Mail a makeover by replacing the buttons and icons from the current version with 1.0 icons and a light gray background in the sidebar replacing the light blue. Very nice...

Have you tried Mail Stamps. Seems to do the icon thing pretty adeptly.
