one of my friends was "trying" to be helpful and clean up my hard drive of all the stuff i didnt need. He thought i didnt have a superdrive and so i couldn't brun dvds on my macbook. seeing no point to keep to this "useless" application on my hard drive he deleted it. How can i get it back?

You should be able to get it back using disc 2 of your system restore CDs. Look for something like AdditionalApplications.pkg and double click it.

IIRC you may not be able to selectively install iDVD alone, you may have to let it install some other iApps too.
