I have a PB 1.67 and want to replace the HD and the specs say that it has an Ultra ATA drive. I purchased an SATA Western Digital Scorpio Blue the other day, did I make mistake or will it work anyway?

Thanks for the help.

I have the same PowerBook, the internal drive is PATA...so SATA drives will not work. You could however buy an external enclosure that will take SATA drives. OWC offers some with FW800.

Thanks for the confirmation. I returned the SATA drive and bought a PATA so that I could minimize the downstream problems. I'm in the process of redistributing some of the computers we have in the house and not even sure what i'll do with this one but wanted to make sure it was in tip top shape since we began to have problems with the HD. I also have a 12 " PB that I purchased a replacement antenna for and trying to decide if I really want to tackle that job. That model is not exactly home repair friendly.

thanks again.
