So it's faster in emulation download but slower in upload. Weird.
Just upgraded to "Up to 10 Mbps" on my CenturyTel DSL line. Now getting ~6000/650.

Even though this is very high - this number is too low to be accurate.

My ISP connection started out as 100megabit and they have since raised it to 120mb. They
charge $60 a month. I just signed up for a service that is twice that fast and is only $45
per month so we'll see what that's like in a month or so when it gets here.

I usually get a full 12 mega BYTES up and down (full duplex) and per machine! So my
XBox 360 can be getting a movie at between 10 and 12 megabytes/sec while my MacPro
is doing 10 or 12 megabytes both up and down through my torrent client and my laptop
can browse the internet, P2P file exchange, or send and receive large mails at full speed
with no lag or sluggishness.

It's good to be in Japan!

Download: 6820 kb/s. Upload: 727 kb/s.

Is that good?

Also, I'm in South Korea which has the most comprehensive broadband penetration in the world. I get bonus points for that.

I paid for 3Mbps DSL. Time to upgrade to 5Mbps.

They added a server in Copenhagen (about 20 miles closer than Malmö, which was the previous one), and now all of a sudden, it’s much faster:

General downloads have also become faster lately. I’m a happy camper

Actually, my connection seems very similar to Rumor’s new(ish) one, except I pay about twice as much as he does, which is to be expected.

I am very jealous. On normal days I get about 5Mbps downloads, not more than THREE FREAKIN' TIMES THAT FAST! Sheesh! Today I'm having some minor speed issues-probably because of the recent rain and (relatively) cold weather. I'm not breaking 4300kbps from anywhere, so that's got to be very local.

Cold here is "less than 60˚F" and lately we've been stuck in the 40s. But even though it's not really that cold it does cause older buried cable to have some difficulties, mainly because it doesn't get buried that deep and the earth shifts and stresses the cable...

Eh, it's free.

Sometimes I wish it was faster, but for plain web surfing it is more than sufficient.

That's not too shabby for free, Railroader. I used to pay about $40/mo for about that download speed from SBC (their "up to 1.5Mbps" package). They could be faster, but those are very surfable speeds.

I'm on cable; I get anywhere from 7Mbit to 14Mbit downstream, depending on time of day (or night). 1.5Mbit up, which seems fairly consistent.

Theoretically the local cable provider could give me more bandwidth for less money-but I'd have to subscribe to their TV service as well, and that eats up the savings. Plus, their speeds aren't as consistent as they'd like people to believe-they quote peak speeds and don't mention how many parts of their coverage area are still subject to neighborhood usage saturation. I'll stick with my "up to 6Mbps" DSL thanks.

Speed Down 1459.13 Kbps ( 1.4 Mbps )
Speed Up 340.38 Kbps ( 0.3 Mbps )

That is over 3G HSDPA on Vodafone UK. Not bad.

]Nice speed. $24.95 a month. Good tech support, excellent filtering policies (i.e. none) and personal service if anything goes wrong (although, aside from things a simple modem reboot fixes, things never seem to go wrong.)
I consistently get 150KB/sec on normal downloads. Depending on torrent, torrents seem to go 100-150KB/sec for a good torrent down and 25-40KB/sec up. Downloading from my computer from another connection via FTP (i.e. upload speed test) gives a consistent 38-40KB/sec.

New tests:

Melbourne (look at those pings)
322 up 34 ms ping to san jose (the download numbers were weird my guess is server's busy.)
Java test (more reliable)

Test note: As a sidenote, I recommend Java tests to all with at least 10mbps Internet connections. Use Firefox, safari doesn't seem to work (I suspect Javascript trouble) and head tohttp://http://www.dslreports.com/speedtests and select Java-based, then pick your server. Better with 10mbps+ down and compression programs active, e.g. on dial-up or Wireless or Satellite. Flash will be compressed by compression programs and doesn't measure well beyond 10mbps. JavaScript or image based tests don't measure well beyond 2mbps. They also will be HEAVILY compressed by compression programs in iPhone, phones, dial-up, etc., making any usage AT ALL of these tests very questionable.
