Hi,

I'm in the middle of designing a paper cup, and from what I've seen on other cups there are a couple of markings, or logos, that seem compulsory:

and

Can somebody explain what they mean, why I need them and where to find them vectorized?

The top one is the Green Dot identity, read an FAQ here.

The second one looks like a variation on the Tidyman symbol, which basically means put your rubbish in the bin and don't litter.

So the message is loud and clear then.. "remember to recycle me, ummm, errr, but don't litter, errr, maybe just put me in the bin please." Grrr.

Back in my College days I did a project on recycling identities, twas a very grave state of affairs indeed.

(If interested go here then "Portfolio" -> "Me Again")

The green arrow graphic is a logo for a European based recycling program. Go to: Repak - Repak Ltd - Home, Recycling, Ireland, Irish, Waste, Packaging, Legislation, Statistics, Statistical Returns, Industry, Environment Additional reference: Race Against Waste : Recycling and Green Dot - Shop Green Dot, It'll help alot.

The other graphic is a typical trash or recycle recepticle symbol. It probably can be found on a clip art or stock image library. Sources, start here: http://forums.macnn.com/83/art-and-g...es-read-first/

Thanks to all of you for fast and good answers.

JonoMarshall, impressive work. I would encourage anyone to read your college project. Up until now I've been one of the "Most people believe that" group described on the first page.

Westbo, you seem to know a great deal about these symbols. Is there any symbol that actually does say that a product is made from recyclable material?
