Is erging! Rowers will know what I mean when I say "erg test" (and most of them would rather start carving their tombstones than doing so). Less than an hour ago, I did four 2000 meter pieces. It's really a lot of work, and I'm finally glad I finished it (we also had to do it last week). I really can't describe to you the pain involved in erging. you just have to try it out for yourself. Below are some examples (although I'm not included in any of them).

Any of you done anything quite as painful and would like to share?
World of Warcraft (Whisperwind - Alliance) <The Eternal Spiral>

rozwado1, do not post a link like that here again. It's so far beyond inappropriate, it's not even funny. And the fact that you obviously knew that before posting makes it all the worse.

the most pain I ever had was afte surgery...

I had all the lymph nodes dug out of my abdomen. To do this, they opened me up from the bottom of my sternum to within an inch of my private parts. They then took all my internal organs, and placed them on my chest while they dug in behind them to remove the lymph nodes.

When I woke up from surgery, I was in so much pain. I couldn't talk because of the respirator in my throat. Finally I signalled for a pen and paper and asked the ICU nurse to kill me. Appalled, she asked why. I wrote "the pain". She said I should not be feeling pain, because I had a morphine drip.

Turns out, the needle for the drip had broken off. I was receiving the pain from that brutal operation with no pain killers whatsoever.

Before they discovered the problem, though, I found the pain was so great I finally relaxed against it and surfed above it. I think my own endorphins must have kicked in or else I was delirious.

Thanks for protecting us mummy.

Having a personal trainer definitely led to pain.
And quite a few jelly babies.

Calling a mod `mummy' may lead to pain.

Don't mind me. I was just annoyed by ThinkInsane's arrogant and condescending attitude.

I doubt kiddies come here for porn, when there are a million other places they can go.

Thinking about my personal trainer brought back all sorts of pleasant memories. Like sitting in my car for 5 minutes, hoping I would have the strength to drive home.

Or wondering if that muscle was supposed to do that. I decided no, it wasn't, as I crawled back to my bed from the shower the next morning. That was fun.

Did you even see the link? It was totally inappropriate and absolutely disgusting. rozwado had no business posting it here, especially since he knew that it was wrong. True, kids don't come here looking for porn, but I would hate for one of them to happen to click on that link.

I think ThinkInsane was very lenient in not banning roz.

No I didn't. The link was gone before I could.
Let's just say I don't appreciate other people telling me what is good for me, and leave it there.
A simply removal of the link would have sufficed, and a pm telling him not to do it again. Instead he projected his values onto the rest of us.

This has nothing to do with "what is good for you". It has to do with the terms rozwado, you, and I all agreed to when we registered to post on this site:

By clicking the Agree button, you warrant that you will not post any messages that are obscene, vulgar, sexually-orientated, hateful, threatening, or otherwise violative of any laws.
Sure, a PM might have been more tactful, but sometimes public reprimanding is necessary to remind others of what is and isn't acceptable, especially with the more serious offenses.

Perhaps it's just me then, when I think a mod should at least appear to be mature. His response was not mature. He went into mummy mode.

Anyway, this is all off topic.

It was absolutely appropriate.

How else to speak to a baby who posts something vile that he *knows* violates the terms of this board? With the prefix "This may lead to my banination" even.

That is either truly heroic, or childish.

He certainly improved my day enormously with that link , but a mod here doesn't have much of a choice in interpretation.

Well, I guess if you assume everyone here is a child, then having mummies as mods is certainly appropriate.

Of course the mod had no choice in removing the link if it went to a porn site. He did have a choice in deciding to come across as mummy.

Perhaps we need a name change, to reflect their role. Instead of moderators, they should be mummy. At night, they could be babysitters.

Yeah, you're right, I shouldn't have admonished him for knowingly violating the TOS he agreed to when he registered. I should have just got him banned outright. And has been pointed out to you several times, it has nothing to do with being a 'mummy' and a lot to do with making sure the content of the forum stays at least acceptable to users of all ages. This is not my policy, I just enforce it. If you are not happy with the forums here, at our macintosh news website and forum, then I suggest you google up some sites that are more to your liking. Or feel free to file a complaint with the admins. I'm sure they will be sympathetic to your plight.

Now back on topic please.

A bit of Neither. I figured it was OK because it's allowed (to post adult links with a warning) on other forums I frequent. I thought it would lead to my banination b/c the video itself was so disturbing it would have to piss off someone. I apologized to ThinkInsane via PM, so I thought I'd tell the general public that I won't post that stuff again (although it's available via PM). Also, I couldn't find the TOS before I posted - didn't know where to look. (still need a link to that)

Back to topic - another thing that hurt was my attempt to hit a 720 on my skis that measure 215cm. I was also slightly intoxicated (hence the idea). It somehow gave me a huge gash on my head that took my whole senior year of high school to heal. Not so "exhausting" like erging, but more "ouch."

Jesus, Lerk! I hope that the assigned staff learned a bit of a lesson to CHECK THE FRIGGIN' IVs! Now I can see why it was so important to my nurses and aides to set up special connectors for the drips when I was in hospital...

Incidentally, regarding the endorphin flood you experienced, I recently read that the "runner's high" -- and thus perhaps many of the instances we associate with "endorphin rushes" -- may actually be caused by anandamide, the naturally-occuring, beautifully-named neurotransmitter that our old pal THC mimics. So the runner's high, and potentially other similar experiences, may indeed really be "highs."

Painful things I've done:
The assault on Mt. Mitchell, 1.5 times

The Blue Ridge Bridge to Bridge once

Getting bailed out by my dad once

Having 13 kidney stones

Having one stone removed from the 'front', and having to pull my own stint out.

well, once discovered, the anesthetist just flipped me over and dug out the IV with a scalpel...but by that point, what was one more bit of pain on top of the other. I couldn't talk, so i couldn't complain. Believe me, AFTER the respirator was removed I gave them a piece of my mind!

Although it was more work tonight, I liked it WAY more than the four 2k's:

The Rower Triathlon Practice!
- 5,000 meters on the erg
- 4 mile run
- 20 full laps in the pool
World of Warcraft (Whisperwind - Alliance) <The Eternal Spiral>
Go Dogcows!
