Man, what a great flick. F*cking hilarious. Everyone needs to go see it when it comes out.
Oh, and for us sneak preview people, we got "Aim for the head" beanies with targets on them.
Edit: Thread title won't change. Oh well.

Spaced series 3 hasn't even been filmed yet, so god knows when it's going to be aired.

If you enjoyed it so much, you should try and spell the name of the movie right at least.

Eh, don't have to see it, I never said it was betteer anyway. They're all lame movies that turn out to be hilarious when they're trying to be all dramatic for instance, even from the previews you can tell that alien vs. predator was going to be hilarious/horrible when a guy "dramatically" screams, "You ugly...son of a...."
Directors, go back to school....

but shaun of the dead wasn't horrible and wasn't trying to be dramatic. it was hilarious for its ironic play on zombie movies.

I think the part that made me laugh the most was when he did his usual routine to the store and all the usual "people" were there. Trips over the same curb, walks into the mart, guy isn't there, opens the fridge (doesn't notice the blood), then SLIPS on the blood on his way out...
I was holding my sides in at that point and couldn't breath from laughing so much.

The bit in the garden with Shaun, the girl and the disposable camera was the tea-spitting moment for me. Absolutely first class film.
Oh and another vote for Spaced - full of great geek culture references.

Meh.
Tale of 2 halves, for me.
First half is totally brilliant and hilarious. Once they get to The Winchester, though, I thought they clearly ran out of any ideas and lapsed into some really well-trodden an annoying cliches.
Not to mention that the dude getting eaten alive was quite possibly the most disgusting thing I've ever seen and came out of nowhere. Considering how campy the rest of the movie was, I was really shocked at just how staggeringly graphic and gruesome that 30 seconds of film was. Really could have done without it.
But yeah, the first half of the film is worth the price of admission and damn funny. Just wish they could have carried through to the end at the same level.

You should check out Hellraiser II: Hellbound. That flick is fun for the whole family!

in fairness, every zombie movie has one of these scenes. in the original Dawn of the Dead, the leader of an intruding biker gang (and also the head of special effects for the film) is ripped apart and has his intestines eaten while he's still alive.

I like the part where they're sitting on the couch finally understanding that the warnings on the TV to lock your doors mean something and just then Zombie stumbles in through the unlocked front door, their reaction is priceless.
Love This Movie!

In the extras, where they replay the scene in the house where Shaun and Ed are up in the middle of the night singing when Pete comes down to yell at them - and the f-word is replaced with "funk" and prick is replaced with "prink" - is great!

I agree. The trailers led me to believe that the whole film was kind of a silly romp with zombies. Turns out it was a silly romp that became a more or less classic zombie pic. I have nothing against Zombie films but this wasn't even that clever (with the exception of the Don't Stop Me Now scene in the pub). I mean the end was clearly a case of being painted into a corner then all of a sudden it's over. The epilogue was funny though.
First half funny, second half not funny. It was billed as a fun spoof on Zombie films, not a half-funny zombie film. I was kinda disappointed.

good stuff.
Just a matter of context.
To me, the scene just seemed grossly out of place in this film. I wasn't expecting it in a comedy, admittedly a dark zombie thriller comedy, so it really bugged me.
But that didn't kill the movie for me. I paid $3 bucks and enjoyed myself at the movie. Although, for me I still think the first half of the film is brilliant and the second half barely mediocre. The contrast makes it a hard movie to wholeheartedly endorse because the first half is so very great and, by contrast, makes the last 30 minutes that much more disappointing.
It should be said, however, that I'm not a horror film kinda guy so the straight-laced zombie thriller parts of the movie were burdensome to me. Its not what I wanted to see so I was disappointed that they didn't have more original ideas to carry through the whole film.
If you like straight up zombie movies, then Shaun is a walk-off homerun. You get great, funny original stuff and then some straight up zombie bashing action with a single punchline at the end.
Personally, I wanted more of the former, less of the latter.

I see where you are coming from, thunderous_funker. It does help to know, however, that a good number of the zombie scenes in Shaun of the Dead are direct homages to the greatest zombie movies of all time. When the movie was first announced, quite a few people thought that SotD was making fun of and parodying zombie flicks. On the contrary, it is paying respect to them while at the same time creating an entirely different kind of movie. While most anyone can enjoy Shaun of the Dead, I think fans of the zombie genre are going to appreciate it the most, even though it is so different than what has come before.
And I _need_ to get the DVD.
