I recently bought a 40 gb hitachi harddrive for my pismo g3/400, and now I am trying to install panther on it. Whenever I get to the disk select screen, it tells me that I can not install OS X on my harddrive because I cannot boot the computer off of that drive. I have tried formatting and partitioning it in a number of different ways, but none of that worked. Does anyone have any idea what im doing wrong here or have any suggestions?

Update - it seems that all i needed to do is restart the computer and boot from the OS X discs again. After this, panther let me install onto the harddrive.
