[edit] whoops! For some reason I though it had been carbonised.
My mistake.

SoundApp appears to work fine in Classic. But I haven't found anything with the power and simplicity (and COST!) of SoundApp. It's just a great, great app.

QuickTime Player can play most types of sound files, can't it?

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!

You want to play all your bizarre file formats on OS X?

http://www.panic.com/ look for Audion
or
http://www.unsanity.com/ look for Mint Audio.

They both support huge selections of different kinds of music but they are shareware :-\
