He's on Mars.
British newspapers went crazy Wednesday morning about an image from Mars that appears to show a humanoid figure descending a shallow hillside.
"NASA scientists have been puzzled by the peculiarly life-like image," declared the Times of London, despite the apparent fact that no one from NASA has had any comment.

Just as I read the topic title I'm watching Quantum Leap - The Beast Within, the show ends with Bigfoot walking around.
He must exist!

without seeing it move I find it hard to believe. Didn't think the environment on Mars could support life, at least not a human sized life form.
BTW an alien that looks like a big monkey/hairy man is a bit of a let down if you ask me

People should perhaps actually read the article before commenting on it.
"NASA scientists have been puzzled by the peculiarly life-like image," declared the Times of London, despite the apparent fact that no one from NASA has had any comment.

"Other British papers saw the humo(u)r in the story, with the Sun theorizing that it was Detective Gene Hunt, the drunken, sexist policeman from the BBC time-traveling crime series "Life on Mars."
Gotta love it.
Damn American spellings...

I'm not sure it's fair to qualify DCI Hunt as a sexist. Everyone was a sexist back then, and really he's fairly open-minded and egalitarian under his gruff, alcoholic exterior. He even promoted WPC Cartwright to WDC.

Not to ruin the camaraderie and everything, but if there was a thread for everytime that Bigfoot was "found", MacNN would have to have a Bigfoot forum.

First, here's the link to the original image (full res).
I had to crop the frak out of it to make it my new desktop.
Second, if you look at it, bigfoot is really small, not far away from the rover. He's in the little red circle here.
Interesting, but actually pretty lame.
Oh, and I LOVE the MJ pic! I LOLed!

What a bunch of fools. Everyone knows that Bigfoot was a robot created and controlled by the space aliens to protect them.
Steve Austin kicked his ass and yanked off his arm.

I looked at the massive high-res picture, and it looks like the alien is very tiny indeed. Maybe there are Lilliputians running around Mars.
Or, alternately: Leprechaun 4: In Space (1997) (V)

Well yeah, but then he learned that Bigfoot was really just like him and was nice to him and the aliens repaired him. So maybe the later ended up moving to Mars.

What a great name for a band or a new Bond flick.

Maybe it's an Earth Action Figure from a popular Sci-Fi show on Mars?

For some reason, this is the most vivid memory I have of the 6 Million Dollar Man.

See, this is why science is lame. Wasn't it so much cooler when everyone thought the mountain might really have been a face?

No. This is why PEOPLE are lame. Seeing stuff that isn't there. It's better to look at everything using the "what is a likely explanation for this" than to assume faces, bigfeet, Jesus, & Mary are appearing on Mars, grilled cheese, and bridge underpasses.
The human mind is very creative, but overall, people are just stupid.

Face/pattern recognition isn't lame. It was very useful when you needed to be able to spot that predator hiding in the long African grass. It's why we are still around to see these faces in things. You can't reasonably expect evolution to keep up with our technological progression.

If the host doesn't bring it up and the callers don't bring it up and the guest doesn't bring it up, then you are right.

You make a very valid point. Our instinct helps us recognize faces. Even moths have huge circles on their wings to look like the eyes of predators.
It's when people "see a face" and think "It's a miracle!" when it isn't.

It's still a cool pic When is the last time you saw an almost perfect rectangle of a mountain in the middle of a flat plain? Extremely unique and some still argue not natural. I don't care one way or the other, but the shape is intriguing.
