at least it's good that GTA4 didn't kill the tickets sales like Halo 3 did for Spiderman 3
I'm see it this weekend, hope I find it as good as you guys have.

Hollywood wanted to blame Halo 3 for Spider-Man 3's poor box office performance. I guess no one wanted to admit that the movie completely sucked.

You're right. I guess it was more they blamed lower box office numbers that weekend because of Halo 3. But looking at what was released that weekend I can't believe it was the game's fault.

Ya it is amazing how that movie just killed the whole franchise for me. I loved 1&2 but after #3 I am not going to see any other ones.

Blame the producers. Venom wasn't supposed to be in it, it was supposed to be just the Sandman. Also, blame the ending on the producers, it was not how Sam Raimi wanted it to go.

I gotta call you out on the first one. Last I heard was that Raimi didn't think he'd be doing another movie, and wanted to make sure HE was the one who did Venom. So he added him in.

Also, all of his cool "Evil Dead" style from the first movie was gone from 3. It was toned down in 2, but it's like he stopped trying in 3.

Yes, he wanted to do a Venom movie but it wasn't supposed to be in 3.

Some Raimi quotes about Venom from an About.com article I Googled:

Avi Arad, who’s really got his pulse on all the Marvel fans better than any head of the corporation has ever understood those people that are interested in the corporation’s product - he really knows what those kids want - he said, ‘You’ve had two Spider-Man pictures. This third one - there’s so many kids, so many fans of Spider-Man want to see Venom. Even if you didn’t grow up with him, they want to see him. You’ve got the Sandman, that’s one of your favorite villains. Why don’t you bring Venom in also and make those kids, the fans of Venom, happy?’
There’s a lot of fantastic elements about Venom that you could say are in conflict with the realism that we wanted to have in the picture
I think he said something similar at Comic-Con, to the effect that he didn't want Venom but it seemed like everybody else was clamoring for him, so he felt like he had to do it.

Saw Iron Man last night. Totally enjoyed it. Not familiar with the comic... was never really into them. Strictly speaking from a "summer blockbuster" perspective it was fun. Worth the $6.

You have a point, but I'm sick of his acting in action movies. Everything feels the same.

No, the Ultimate versions are like a reboot and re-imagination of the Classic/original characters and universe.

I was super surprised to see none other than Tom Morello in the flick. He play one of the first terrorist that gets killed in the camp....awesomeness. I was thinking also how weird he looked with so much hair. LOL

He was credited as something else in the movie as well. I remember seeing his name in the credits as a "Lead Guitar Supervisor" or something like that. IMDB doesn't list that, though, only his credit as "Insurgent #5".

Pretty much every marvel comic book movie is an adaptation from the ultimate universe in some form. Ultimate Universe Nick Fury is black.

I only heard about Ironman through GFK albums, and it would have been cool to see him in a cameo (although nothing can surpass his cameo in "Walk Hard")

Our showing stopped just before the end... got a free pass, but didn't get to see the ending.

great great movie.
8.5/10

my girlfriend also loved it. My favourite bit was the bit with the troops in the hummer at the start. Hilarious.

Makes me think that would be a great way to end a film... though it would never be done because the credits would never be shown
That happened to me when I saw the JFK at the very first showing in town. It ended early just as all the conspiracy theories were peaking out. I still have no idea how much was left or how it was supposed to end.

I love the U.S., but we need some time apart.

I liked that part too, but I'm biased. I'm a former SrA in USAF Security Forces, myself.

I have been avoiding this thread until I got a chance to see it. I just got back from the theaters with my younger brother and I must say it was a really good movie. It had some really good action and was so much fun to watch. I never read the comics, but from what I could tell it wasn't really "inside joke" heavy. I really love the ending though. Bottom line, if you haven't seen it go and do so now!
