That's great news! Does your G5 have the Ultra DDL as well? Because I understand that is the delay for a lot of the systems... If yours has the Ultra DDL and already shipped, then mine should be any day now!

Naw, I opted for the GT. It has the same, and better in some cases, performance as the Ultra as shown in the barefeats.com tests. But I see that now a dual 2.5 WITH the Ultra is the same ship time as a GT. I bought a GT with mine because at the time it would have allowed me to get my machine 2 weeks earlier, which allows me two weeks to get projects done to pay the rig off. But yeah, yours should be coming soon.

So is anyone else awaiting a Dual 2.5 with 6800 Ultra? I'm curious about order dates and expected delivery time. Still no delivery notice on my G5 and I'm just dying for it!

Mine took about 4 weeks. Ordered it 2 months ago, got it a month ago, which was about 10 days before expected arrival.
It's fast :-) Dual 2.5, 6800 Ultra, 2 GB RAM, 2x250 GB HDD.

OK, 4 weeks is good. If mine were 4 weeks it would ship by the end of this week (ordered Nov 6). Anyone else have experience?
And yeah, they are indeed fast. My dad has one as well, and the thing just screams, especially considering the only other Mac I use regularly is my Rev A 12" AlBook. This'll be my first Mac desktop, as I always used to go PC desktop, Mac laptop. Now it's time for the whole switch. Can't wait to get it.

Hey... question for you...
in day to day apps.. are you finding your 867mhz PB a bit slowish?? I ask because I am looking at getting a 1.33 G4 12" and don't want to risk it being slow on apps like MS office or iApps..
Thanks

Hey,
Well, I don't find it slow on everyday tasks, no. But it's no dual 2.5 either. It's all relative really. It's a bad time to ask me because I haven't gotten used to the dual 2.5 yet, so I don't know whether I'll be complaining about the 867 AlBook. I love my AlBook to death, and I recommend you go for it, the 1.33 must be quite a bit faster too, with the L2 cache and such.
To give you a point of reference, my main system up until today when I received my G5 was a Windows PC with a P4 2.6GHz and 1GB RAM, SATA drives, etc. So not a slow machine (although certainly not the fastest available, either), and I never felt frustrated with the speed of my PowerBook. Then again, I use it mostly when I'm away from my desk or travelling, not as my main system, but I assume you'd be doing the same since you have a G5. I say go for it.
If I can be of any more help let me know.

Thanks, I think I might take the plunge tomorrow and the price is right! $1599!
I need a portable Mac again!
Congrats on the dual 2.5... let us know how it goes.

Thanks! And yeah, that is one of the best things about the 12" AlBook, the price is really phenomenal for what you get. So far so good with the G5! Loving it to death, and the 30" display is to die for.

Just to add -- I agree that an 867-G4 should be fine for day-to-day work. I'm using a 500-G3 Pismo and find that it's just fine for daily usage and will continue to use it for portability applications despite getting my G5 today...
Also -- for the record, I ordered a Dual 2.5 with NV6800 on 11/18/04 with est. ship date of 12/10/04. The machine shipped 11/29/04 and arrived today, 12/03/04...
