Very basic info so far, I basically said it in the title!

Matt Damon was talked about to be Kirk (its a prequel to TOS), but apparently they want someone in their early 20's to be Kirky boy.

It'll be much easier if you just comply.

I searched, I saw nothing about a ST thread in one page going back to November 06. Now if I had found that thread, and posted on it, I wonder who would be going on about zombie threads??? Mods usually say don't dig up threads over 6 months old, but its ok to link to a YEAR OLD THREAD!?

Anyway, if I could think of all the people who could play Kirk, none of them would be JT.

Edit: I thought of a great role for Mr Timbo, somebody get him a red shirt.

It'll be much easier if you just comply.

Why wouldn't it be ok to link to it? I'm not telling anyone to post in it...

Oh and I was kidding about the JT pic.

I honestly can't think of anyone. Cept maybe Brandon Davis.

*sigh* the nerd squad and their imaginary rules of how to post threads.

There is only one rule. Post a thread if you feel like it. If you don't feel like it, don't post it.

That about sums it up. Obviously the rules of the forum apply, but that goes without saying.

The nerd-squad can't do anything but whine anyway. No need to listen to the constant near-autistic crap they think matters in life (i.e. forums for them)

They aren't re-inventing it like they should so it will probably suck for everyone except the hardcore trekies.

I want a really, really dark Star Trek movie again, like First Contact. Except perhaps a bit darker.

Either that or BRING ON THE TRIBBLES!

It's way too early to say, but I'd wager that it's not going to be 100% what a Trekkie would expect. Abrams has stated that he respects the "canon", so to speak, but is no Trekkie himself. Someone who's not a dedicated fan is more likely to add to the history, or even change it a bit. He also has mentioned that the last few movies were, in his words, "disconnected" from what he believes to be the core of the franchise.

I'm no Trekkie, but I welcome the idea of someone other than Berman taking on the story. And if it does suck, it will be just like 90% of the other movies in theaters today.

There has only been one good Star Trek movie. Namely Star Trek the Motion Picture. Ingenius plot, nice twist and an epic feel to it.

After that all we got were feature film length episodes. What a shame.

I'm hoping for something epic from JJ Abrams.

This is ironic because TMP is a feature length film episode. It was based on a pilot screenplay for a second Star Trek television series. This is somewhat noticeable in the numerous points of film lacking in dialogue and filmed with film score and very little action.

Here's what I think:

They can't screw it up anymore than it has been already.

Frickin' Enterprise. If it's a prequel, then how come it plays out just like every other ST series. Come on, dimwits, break from the formula, would ya?!?

Can't they just leave the past alone? They ruined Star Wars with prequels. They've screwed up Star Trek in series after series. They vastly improved Battlestar Galactica beyond anything anyone could've imagined possible...

Oh wait, bad example.

Ah the irony (nothing about you voodoo.) lawlz

TO be honest ANY type of sarcasm, unless made very obvious, on the net is bad netiquette.

So you both are wrong.

I'm surprised no one has posted this yet...

It was announced today that Zachary Quinto (Sylar from Heroes) will be playing Spock in the new movie. But the bigger news is that Leonard Nimoy will also be playing Spock.

I actually had some hope for the next star trek movie hoping it would be something new and exciting.

Well that is until I read this:
TrekToday - New Plot Details Leak Out
Oh goodie! Time travel! That is so un-star trek and fresh.

Not like we didn't see Time travel in Star Trek 4,7,8 and in 30% of episodes from every series.
Well at least this time at least the cast will be younger and better looking.
