Anyway, I'm in the tangerine C2D iMac please camp. I wasn't in the market for the original tangerine iBooks/iMacs, but have always thought they were very cool.

The Xeon is definently a waste in the iMac, also w/ the 30inch how would they fit a power supply to feed both a xeon and a 30" LCD into that case, I just don't see it happening, quad core core 2 duo yes, but not xeon.

As for colors, ha, you'll never see them again, sure I like my indigo imac G3, but it just isn't professional, black, white, and some sort of muted chrome would be nice, and still keep it looking very sharp.

In the meantime what I'd really like to see is a MacBook nano with a 10" screen, I would buy that in a second, and yes, I would permit/expect that to come in colors.

The larger the screen, the more space to pack all that equipment in. With a 30" screen, I imagine Apple could pack in quite a bit.

I find it very hard to beat the current design. But all of the above suggestions sound nice. All I can think of are to get rid of the bezels too. Maybe it'll look like the cinema displays?

I like that one guy's "iMac Pro" or whatever with the aluminum casing. He just needed to change the font, increase the optical drive size, and add an iSight.

the old g4 imacs would have been hot in black. *as i look at my imac g4 in front of me*

maybe apple could use that swivel head with the current imac somehow. not the same but make it that easy to move around.

Take another look or visit your eye doctor. There is splotches, and there is paint on the Apple logo.

I see some splotches (witch might be from finger oil or its blunt surface). I don't think thats paint on the Apple logo its the reflection of the corner of the display on the Apple logo (or something else thats in the view of the Apple logo).

While not a bad idea the square cutout around the front apple logo is a little corny.

I thought that the iMac G5 was a good machine. Mine worked fine on 512 MB of RAM.

As far as I know, some were either really good or total disasters, I used one w/ 512 and was reasonably impressed w/ iMovie and some video stuff but since this was after the inttel switch I decided to hold out until Merom and then I jumped on it. And perhaps most importantly I have been very, very pleased.

Dude the whole reason I posted that link was to show that when the current iMac design was brand new people bitched about it, and now when Apple comes out with an updated iMac design they will bitch about that too.

I agree with kick52. That blak G4 looks schweeet. The G4 iMac was not a bad design, either. It enjoyed some advantages over the G5/C2D design. Screen movement is way better. It also made for a better commercial. The footprint is a bit bigger, though.

You're right, the lamp was a great looking computer. It was actually the design that won me over from the PC world. But I must say, it was a bit girly. While that's good and fine for girls, the new design is much manlier.

This is a girly iMac.

I see where you are coming from with the girly thing. That being said, I give all of my computers names, and I have only managed to give one a male name.

Out of the two flower power and blue dalmation I really liked blue dalmation, I thought it was really catchy as are the indigo, sage, and ruby ones, I think they were by far the best, and pretty rare and unusual now too.

I had a Compaq named Jill. I had a Pentium II called Sparky. I had a Pentium III named Rusty. I named my current PC Ed (after the female character in the TV show Cowboy Bebop). I named a custom AMD K6-300Mhz rig Smoky after I built it, and re-named it Fire after it smoked a motherboard and video card. I have an iMac G3 named iShit. That is more than I remembered originally. I had an 8088, a pair of 8086's, a 286, a 386SX, a 486DX4, a Pentium, and a Cyrix 6x86 that I can't remember then names of. The 386, had a Mario Bros. related name, and it was an IBM PS/2 all-in-one.

I still haven't come up with a name for my Powerbook G3 (Lombard). This probably because I always just called it the Lombard. Maybe I should call it Lombardo. I also have not come up with a name for my new MacBook.

I also name my cars. They are, in order, Nicole (1989 Nissan Sentra), Heather (1983 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale Brougham), Naota (1986 Toyota Celica), Anniya (1987 Volvo 740GLE), and Jet (1986 Toyota Corrola LE). Heather was also occasionally referred to as "The Brown Streak" by my dad, as he always saw me driving too quickly. Naota is named after a character in the anime Fooly Cooly (Furikuri). He was occasionally referred to as Ta-Kun, a nickname that the character also was given. Anniya is Swedish for sparrow. I think that I americanized the spelling. Jet was name after a character from the anime Cowboy Bebop, it was chosed specifically because that car was sllllllllloooooowwwww. I also named my father's 1997 Saturn SL Sandra.

Cars, computers, and animals get names.

I can see apple may introduce a black iMac, but not other colours...

However, I could see the mini replacing either it's white plastic top, or the aluminium side band with coloured anodised aluminium.

This would harmonise the color options of the iPod and iPod nano with the iMac and Mac mini respectively.
