I don't see a Black Widow movie in there. Hadn't they decided to greenlight one?

To me, the biggest question I have is: why are the HYDRA-controlled Wanda and Pietro working with Ultron? What brought them together?

EDIT: Ok I have a theory: Ultron views himself as a greater superhero than the "unworthy" Avengers. He attacks HYDRA and frees the twins from HYDRA and Loki's sceptre. They are temporarily loyal to him (they are all three now free of "strings" controlling them), until Ultron's insanity becomes apparent.

For whatever reason, Marvel Studios has decided Black Widow and Hulk work better as supporting characters.

That said, I think Black Widow and Nick Fury are both great opportunities for films staring much younger actors in retrospective films about their still cloudy pasts.

I'm gonna make a prediction: Thanos killed Odin. After tricking Thor and returning to Asgard, Loki fulfilled his promise to Thanos and let him into the weapons vault to get the Tesseract and the Infinity Gaunlet. Odin detected the breach, and Thanos killed him, allowing Loki to begin his impersonation of Odin. However, having an ineffective king leads to the downfall of Asgard..

What I find interesting is that with three films a year there's still little room now for solo sequels. Dr Strange will be waiting almost 4 years before he gets a chance at a sequel.

Also, it seems Marvel is moving fast from technology / spies / soldiers to space and sorcery. Although it seems the tv shows will remained pretty grounded. What's the timeline on the Defenders tv shows on Netflix?

I wonder if Rogers and Thor will survive their final sequels. One or the other is definitely gonna die. It'd be cool to see Ragnarok end with Mjolnir falling into the hands of Beta Ray Bill.

I hope Marvel is leaving Peter Parker with Sony and negotiating the right to bring Miles Morales to the MCU. Not interested in another Peter origin story. I also hope they use an actual teenager.

I wonder who Wanda and Pietro's father is? I'm guessing Maximus, Black Bolt's evil brother.

Anyone notice how many black heroes they have now? Could we actually see an Avengers film fronted by "Falcon America," War Machine, Miles Morales, and Beta Ray Bill?

Does anyone think saturation? Or that its risky to plan a movies of these types 5/6 years in the future?

Between the comics, the group films, the solo stuff etc etc, how the **** does anyone follow a consistent 'universe'?

This I like. If you're going to do sequels at least plan the story arcs ahead of time.

Yeah that super shitty Rise of the Silver Surfer had Galactus in it, though it was mostly just the "threat" of Galactus.

I do - way over saturation of a niche market. But I'm sure they'll make a lot of money, especially in aftermarket crap.

Alright, who's going to see Avengers this weekend?

Me, probably can't happen, but I'd like to see it on the big screen, and not have to deal with spoilers in my Agents of Shield.

Anyone know where in Agents of Shield you're supposed to watch the new Avengers? There was a reference in this weeks episode about what was going to happen in it, should we expect next weeks to talk about it in the past tense?

Wow, it really shows how little of a comic book fan I am. I watched the Avengers last night and barely knew or didn't know many of the characters including Thor and a lot of other characters.

That made the movie a lot less exciting for me. No plans to watch any more Marvel films unless it stars more main characters (in my opinion).

Watched Age of Ultron just now. Reviews have been middling, but I enjoyed myself. Not a comic book fan though, so maybe the massacred the canon and cut off all sorts of interesting stories for all I know.

I'm worried about Avengers: Infinity War. If this next wave is supposed to culminate into this last two-parter in 2018/19 and this movie wasn't as good as the first, I hope they take the time to make the next one solid.

It wasn't bad by any means. They were saving Thanos for the finale, and so they needed a big bad for this one. The choice was Ultron, but without Hank Pym to create it, no movie to introduce it in, and wanting to bring in a few new Avengers, they ran out of time to make it work. In fact, without Spader as Ultron, this would have crashed, I think.

They had a great start (that doesn't make sense if you look close, but hey, shiny), and the end was the same mindless action fest as they all are, but the problem was the center. Squeezing in intros for new Avengers, the creation of Ultron and a lot of internal friction in the team (Civil War storyline) was a bit much when you want the characters to all feel alive at the same time. The last one arrived with Loki introduced and all the powered Avengers well known. If the next movies go according to plan, the third will have an easier task ahead of it again.

I barely have heard of him in the comic book days, and I guess that I haven't watched the first 3 movies. Again, not a comic book fan. Perhaps I should have started with movie 1 first.

Honestly, if a good popcorn action flick should need you to know everyone well to be a good movie. That sounds like a failure on them, to me.

There's knowing the mythological figure and knowing the comic book character. And most people don't watch every Marvel movie.

Seriously? This is the ELEVENTH Marvel film of the MCU and the characters are 40 years old. If people are going into this movie now and complaining, it's on the patron, not the studio.

If you walked into Return of the Jedi and bitched about it because you had no idea who everyone was, whose fault is that?

That's not what was said. He said not knowing the characters detracted from the excitement. I said if not knowing the characters does that, something is wrong with the movie. I don't need to know who James Bond is to find the fight scenes exciting.

Uh, yeah you do. You're missing a good fraction of the story if you don't know who the characters are after ***ELEVEN*** films.

What do you want, an origin story for the characters in the first 15 minutes? Get real.

Daredevil is pretty incredible. I had low expectations going in, but from the first episode, the wife and I were both completely hooked.

The fight scene in the second episode was particularly nice.

Not all eleven movies were worth watching.

If they're now framing every storyline around the assumption that we've been fully invested into each one, then I predict a gradual drop-off in attendance.

Lol. What were the numbers?

Avengers 2 - $631M this weekend worldwide.

Over. Half. A. Billion. Dollars.

$191M domestic vs. $80M domestic for the first film.

You're off your rocker if you think attendance is slowing down.

Right. Look who we're dealing with. Someone who feels that every movie should have the ghost of Orson Wells come out and explain every character in great detail for the people that didn't bother to drop dollar one on any of the previous films, but expect everything to be spoon fed to them.

People who walked into Jedi and didn't see the other films: "who's this green guy? He's dead? Who cares? Who's the ghost? Is that his dad? Wait, the big black guy is his dad? Now I'm confused. Oh, pew pew!"

Too much exposition would weigh a movie down. It's why they each had their own movie(s).

If you don't want to watch all the movies, you could just catch up like this:
