Both are already obsolete.

of course C2D... but there is some truth to what ^^ he wrote.

edite: i misread the post. my answer would be "i don't know". i would not get the MBP 1st gen though.... so much problem. i think i would rather get the MB C2D. but can't answer the future-proof. if u buy the MB then u can always buy a NEW one in 2 yrs since it's so affordable. half the aprice almost of the MBP. depends on what u need also.

If a computer is in your hands, it's "obsolete." Obsolete things aren't necessarily useless, though. A '72 Dodge Charger is not exactly useless, nor is a sailboat made by hand from teak and oak. They're just not the "latest and greatest." For today you cannot go wrong with either one, but getting the MacBook with a C2D processor may or may not be the best choice over the MBP with a Core Duo processor-take a look at the other issues, like video capabilities, drives (size, speed, type) and the like too.

Yeh what he said!

All kidding aside I have both and each serves their purpose. If battery life is impotant go with the MB, if screen size and graphics are important go with the MBP
