The posts were not deleted. I don't see any clues to explain why they'd be gone. Did your browser time out while trying to submit them? If the server were down for backups, then the submission would never make it in the door.

No, it didn't time out. It just seems like some of my posts aren't showing up, and it's only in that forum. I remember making posts in those threads, then going back and wondering why they weren't there. In the AT&T 4 Gb iPhone thread, I was the first reply, but it never showed up. Could it maybe be something on my side?

Could an admin comment on this?
My only problem was, there was bugs or layout quirks that were known about in the last version of the forum that never got fixed to begin with. It would have been easier to just have fixed them from the start.

But you get problems like this when you have a "closed" beta testing.

Well, given the lack of response by any mod or admin, I'm not sure it even mattered where I posted it.

At this point, I don't have an answer about this issue, but I think it's something in vBulletin rather than something we actively set up. Having a default "everything that says 'wiki' goes straight to wikipedia" doesn't make a lot of sense, and it's something we'd have fixed if we could.

Thanks, Glenn.

So you would say it's a bug, not some kind of obscure feature ?

I manage a vBulletin board, which is at 3.6.8 PL2 and found neither similar behaviour, nor settings that could trigger it; interesting. Did you have the 'Replace URL's With Page Title'- mod installed, or something similar?

Something's up after the keynote took teh 'NN offline for a while. Here's what I get when I try searching new posts:

This forum requires that you wait 10 seconds between searches. Please try again in 3762 seconds.
I'll try again in a little over an hour....

Plus, this post time is two hours early. That probably has something to do with it, too...

Someone fixed it, thanks!.

Why does my user CP have a link to remove myself from my ignore list? Obviously I'm not on my own ignore list. If I click the link, it still apeears on my user CP page.

that's kind of funny.
the the 3.7 software added A LOT of new features to the user profile and options. so it's going to take awhile to integrate all of those into our style. strangely, vb seems to want to turn every forum into a mini-myspace. go figure.

Well complete bio info on member pages has been missing for ages now and that was broken during some upgrade too. Quite honestly, I'm not holding my breath for this one to be fixed either.

And since I'm complaining about unfixed old bugs, here's another one that's already more than a year old.

This is strange because in the "Subscribed Forum List" the "Last Post" URLs have the "/new-post/" suffix so you are directed to the first new post. All that needs to be done is to add the "new-post" suffix to the URL in the links in the "New Subscribed Threads" list.

I've done my first template hacking, and tried to get some of the worst bugs out. Most of these were introduced in the 3.7.x update.

Membername popup menu: buddy-list item is back.
Member profile page: lost functions & info restored.
QuickLinks in navbar: missing links found! For publication soon.
Online page refreshes again.
UserCP menu: missing items are back.
A few mod-related fixes that won't be visible.
vBB version number fixed at bottom of page.
DH has restored the image verification on registration, but the spambots missed the window.

note: vBB has renamed Buddies -> Contacts.

The objective is to get previous functions working again, then work on the new features over time. I'll try to tackle some more longstanding bugs along the way. The CODE tag is getting looked at by both of us.

Good news. It's nice to know somebody is working on these bugs.

I see you have now put back in some of the personal information on the member pages. But biography information people enter is still not being displayed anywhere on the member pages.

And also, the links in the "New Subscribed Threads" list still point to the first post rather than the first unread post.

no, that was all me. figured it was inactive and just taking up precious vertical space on my screen.
i can always turn it back on if we have need for that kind of testing. we're fiddling with themes/styles/css/etc so we're going about it a different route.

The hampstor doesn't need his own watch, just a cronjob that calls his friend ntpdate that calls other hampstors.

More fixes applied to the live style.

• General Archives fit into main page formatting
• Report Abuse page unborked
• Quick Reply & Inline Edit: black border deleted, box back to normal size
• Subscribed threads in UserCP finally link to new-post
• Control-s submits Quick Reply & Inline Edit again
• CODE tag fixed, finally - maybe*
• Public Profile page: missing profile fields added
• Some more mod-related fixes.

The subscribed-threads new-post link was surprisingly hard to nail down. The same template renders the thread titles in the UserCP subscribed listing, as well as in regular forum listing.

CODE tag seems to work well now, except for one report on Safari 4 Dev Preview using the nightly WebKit build. I hadn't checked that combination.

Another minor point regarding the quick reply box: it's slightly too small and doesn't align with `Show your signature' anymore. Sorry for being nit-picky …

“Show your signature”?

Don’t you mean “Quote message in reply”? Or do you just have different buttons from me?

I'm pretty certain that Oreo is referring to the lil' blue lines in my screenshot lining up with the red vertical axis to the left and right of the text field ...

IIRC, they used to line up a *little* more precisely, but I'm pretty sure I never got it to line up 100% because ... well, vBulletin's just a pig that way.

And yes, that is nit-picking

Another update to the live style.
  • "Forum Rules" posting permissions box is fixed.
  • BBcodes help page required a lot of fixing.
  • "codex" temp code-tag removed. It was identical to codeff temp tag.
  • "Spoiler test (frank)" temp tag removed - it didn't work.
  • "test3" spoiler tag removed - identical to the real Spoiler tag.
  • Applescript tag example actually works now, & no longer forces page wide.
  • Descriptions improved on several custom tags.
  • Contacts popup window has been renovated.
  • Form submission tags combed through on several pages, this may resolve some occasional error messages the staff has been getting.
  • Display code added to some templates for a few new features. This is incomplete at present, and may not get turned on. I'm not sure why podcasting code should be present in a forum display anyway.
  • Spacing tidied around scattered checkboxes. The vBSEO checkboxes are the remaining offenders, they are spaced for standard vBB templates. One of these days, I'll have to tackle the vBSEO files and see if I can fix that.

For the moment, I'm steering clear of effgee's alignment work around the QR box. There are plenty of nits elsewhere to work on.

Unless the vbSEO guys have changed the delivery of their plugin, there's not much point in trying - all the code in their files was/is encrypted. When struggling with this the last time around I went to their support forum to ask for help but got precisely ... nowhere.

Great job on the rest of the stuff!

Here's an interface bug. When you view poll results, the vote now and view poll results buttons still appear. Surely they should disappear when you vote on a poll or view results.
