The power of context. Love it.

HA. Yeah right. I mean....(laughs) That's very well done. Such the opposite of what it's really about. Nice nice.

As someone who has never seen the Shining, I'm very confused. My wild guess is that those are clips from the original pasted together to make it look less dark? Yes, I'm probably killing the joke, I know.

LOL! Essentially, yes. You really need to see The Shining to appreciate the fullness of the parody trailer.

That's pretty funny and well done. And for those who haven't seen The Shining, you definitely should see it, 'nuff said.

Hilarious!
Truth be told, it looks better than the movie, which I found dreadful. Nicholson over acting? Shelley Duvall flashing her gums all over the place? Scatman getting an axe in the chest? Feh. Turning it into a light hearted romantic romp may have been better than Kubrick's take on it.
Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!

Never saw it, found the edit really good. I have seen The Shinning though, so I was somewhat prepared.

There are other ones too. The Titanic one was crappy (constant fading to black to make it seem scary). The (ap)Parent Trap was similarly lame, but a bit better since more of the things said in the movie could be twisted into a love story.

You can't be serious.

The Shining is the best horror movie ever made.

Yes, I am quite serious. Saw it in 80 when it came out (it was 80, right?) and even then I thought it was dull. Danny saying redrum was great, tho, and is an occasional part of my vernacular.
Now I wouldn't say the shining was a steaming pile of dung. But it was far from great. And in my estimation, not even close to the greatest horror movie ever made.

Friggin brilliant!

Most of the movies from Steven King books suck.
The original mini series of Salem's Lot was good. Vampire floating in the mist, scratching on the glass and whispering. tap tap tap, "Open the window david"

I laughed through the exorcist. You have to be catholic I guess.

The only movie that actually scared me was Alien.
Another good one is Rosemary's Baby. This one's more cerebral, actually a 'Film'.
You can take the dude out of So Cal, but you can't take the dude outta the dude, dude!

One can do this with almost any movie ever made.

In fact, the Simpsons does this almost every week. Fox plugs the show as being about a particular topic, which upon watching was just a setup plot for the real topic. Bleah!
