300 crashes and counting - how many have you had?

If you navigate to ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/MobileDevice/<name of your iPhone>/, select all (except any folders - you'll have to add the contents of those in separately*) and look at the total number of files selected, how many do you have?
I've had my iPhone 3G since 5th Aug 2008, and yesterday took me up to 300 crashes, including 3 'panics', in all the software on my iPhone. In less than 3 months.
Exactly 100 of those were in Mobile Safari (which I barely use for the obvious reason that it is a stinking pos). A further 92 were in Apple's software or in mobile OS X processes.
In total Apple software has been responsible for 64% of the 300 crashes on my iPhone.
* I didn't include the files in the Baseband folder in the totals as I'm not sure what this is - it looks like an error report for the network traffic rather than a crash per se so I didn't include them. However, there are 69 of those as well.

You forgot to mention to divide the number of files by 2, since each crash produces TWO files: 1 .plist and 1 .crash
I had my iPhone since July, and have 225 crashes, thereof 76 for Mobile Safari.

Not on my system it doesn't - they are all .crash files only.
Funny that a third of your crashes so far are also due to mobile Safari.

I have 101 total. Only about 10 of those are Safari but 27 are "mediaserved_2008.."

151 total, 55 Safari crashes.
I'd probably have a lot more if I didn't reboot at least twice a day.

150 total, 35 of which were Safari. I've had mine since late July.
I reboot about once a week or whenever I have problems.

I suspect the number of Safari crashes is directly proportional to the number of websites visited + amount of time spent browsing.

363 crashes in 3 months, 320 of them in Safari. That's an average of four crashes per day, and I don't typically use it on the weekends, making it closer to five crashes per day.
I typically use it to browse the web 2-4 hours per day.

Btw, I do most of my web-viewing using NetNewsWire and that has had a grand total of 29 crashes since I got my iPhone. Given that I very rarely use mobile Safari and very often use NNW, the difference in the stability between the two is shocking especially when they use the same rendering engine.
Also, I have been rebooting my phone more often since making the first post above and the stability of apps seems to have improved greatly - only 3 more crashes recorded since the 27th. Of course, of those 3, 2 were in mobile Safari (sigh).

Thought I would post a follow up to this thread given that iPhone OS 2.2 has been out for a while. It seems that a combination of this version of the OS and/or getting into the habit of restarting my phone every day or two has solved the appalling instability I was experiencing.
I now have had 336 crashes in total (109 in MobileSafari). Since I first posted this thread, that's only an additional 36 crashes, and 9 more in Safari (however, that could be down to the fact that I have given up using it other than for very, very rare occasions).
Either way, it is a big improvement to be thankful for. I have no idea if it is because of 2.2 or the restarting or the abandonment of MobileSafari but, now that sanity has returned, I don't care!

Since the update I've had zero crashes in anything. Five screens of apps too.
Maybe now the future updates will focus on most wanted features.
