Hey guys, I think this post may have already been threaded through here, but I cant find it. I have a Summer 2000 G4/400 and want to get a CD-R or CD-RW external drive that will use Apple's Disk burning software, and iTunes. Any reccomendations? sony, Yamaha? firewire, USB, which one?

No burning with iTunes to 3rd-party CD writers. Only to Apple's installed CD-RW on the new G4s. Patch / extensions "soon to come."

Yes, this is ridiculous. In case you weren't quite clear on that...

Buy any FW CD-RW. iTunes is a pretty nice mp3 creator / catalog, but use Toast to burn your tunes or data.

FWIW, iTunes works great with my Sony CRX-160E (12/8/32) CD-RW in an ADS Pyro Firewire case. The only problem is that when it prompts me to insert a blank CD to burn, it won't recognize the CD. If there's a blank CD in the drive when I click the Burn button, it works fine.

Of course, I already had the CD Master preview installed prior to installing iTunes and was using it regularly and that my drive is very similar to the CD-RW drives included in the new G4s (a Sony CRX-140E, I believe).

Hello Everybody,

I have a QUE FireWire 8x4 CD-RW. I like it, no problems with it yet. I just don't like Toast software by Adaptec it usually gives me problems. I am waiting for Apple to kick out some good Plug-Ins. Overall I like it alot!!!

379's about what I paid for my PlexWriter 8/20(CDR) last year.
All you gotta do to get SCSI in a G4 is put in a PCI card.
I still burn with Toast, tried iTunes and dumped it because it has no equalizer. I hate flat sound.
As soon as Apple puts an EQ back into what used to be SoundJam, I'll get it. Until then, I'll stick with SJ Plus 2.5.2.
