Hi there ...
I want to make a few short quicktime movies (about 10 seconds each) from my digital camera and put them on my laptop.
How much hard drive space would a 10 second clip take up?
Thanks ......

Assuming you'll be using DV compression it won't really take a lot of space. I don't work in that resolution but I think it's safe to say your 10sec movie might weight something between 20Mb/50Mb, depending on the content.

I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

It depends on the bitrate your camera uses. The bitrate will depend on the resolution, codec, and compression settings. My Canon took movies in Motion JPEG format. A typical movie I have saved is at 320x240, has a bitrate of 2000kb/s. That's about 2.4MB for 10 seconds or 14MB per minute. Obviously this isn't very high quality.

FWIW I was talking about full 720x480 DV resolution.

Since he said it was his digital camera, it's probably not DV.
