I don't like how it looks, but check this out, the R-Spec model, for $23,500.00!!!!!!

- 210 Hp Low pressure 4 banger (read: Aftermarket chips to boost boost and make more POWAR!)
- RWD
- 6spd manual
- LSD
- Track tuned struts, springs, swaybars
- Staggered 19" rims with sticky tires
- Brembo 4 piston calipers on all four corners, 13.4" rotor in front, 13" in back
- Curb weight of 3400lbs
- 0-60 in under 6 seconds
- Independent suspension front AND REAR (unlike mustang)

For TWENTY THREE FREAKIN GRAND! Man. What a bargain. I'm telling you guys, this is the next "IT" car. Oh yeah! 30MPG TOO!

a couple reasons why no...
1.No AWD
2.Hyundai (nuff said)
3.Si/GTI/REAL WRX

EDIT: but a B- for effort!

1.AWD saps more power from the ground. Typical AWD = 30% drivetrain loss. RWD is typically 15-20% drivetrain loss.
2. Hell yeah! Low resale value = pick this up cheap in a few years!
3. Si? Are you ****ing kidding? A 200hp torqueless FWD car versus a RWD turbo 4 banger with a 6spd? You are clearly insane. And the GTI (MCFAT) hasnt' been competitive with anything for a long time. It's too heavy. A real WRX is okay, but this will murder one on the track. If you have infinite money, sure, get a WRX. But to upgrade a WRX's wheels, suspension, braking system, etc to match this will cost you over $30 grand.

Oh yeah, did I mention this thing gets 30mpg?

I've never seen a GTI get 34mpg, except for the really really old ones. All the new ones are fat and heavy.

ok well the new ones do get over 30MPG, i know this because i get over 30MPG consistently on the highway (unless i'm smoking one of these ricers in a hyundai)

So anyway i'm done making arguments, good try Hyundai but you won't sell enough, and you'll never get a second look from anyone looking for a real car.

Big words from the rookie,

GTI
Car and Driver 10 Best for 2007, 2008, and 2009.
Motortrend 2009 Best Sport Compact Shootout - 1st place - GTI

"the GTI is the finest all-around car here -- superior on the road, very good at the track, and respectable and plenty quick in our instrumented testing. Plus, the interior is a posh, ergonomic delight."

PS: Any real driver out there knows that RWD > FWD, and less weight is better. Don't listen to the VW fanboi. Don't worry about him, he'll be paying obnoxious amounts for all the bullshit that goes wrong with that german piece of ****.
Your creating an argument when all was done was me making a point about comparing a HYUNDAI to some of the best made vehicles on the road. I'm sure at some point in your career your realize how to post and reply. I have never stated that the GTI is the best car, what i am saying is that by making comparisons of a car that has yet to hit the market based on pure specs released by the manufacture is plain idiotic. Also the direct attacks/language are a joke and immature. Welcome to the forums!

/end thread

EDIT: nice try with the edit

Rob?

A lot of people get paid to do things, and many of them don't do their jobs well; irrelevant argument.

I wouldn't go hating on Hyundai that quickly. They've made huge leaps in quality and reliability in the past few years.

I just bought a 2005 Tuscon in July, and I love it. The interior is very, very well-done (so much better than my 2000 Grand Prix GT, which I loved, but the interior was like a Playskool toy), it rides great, gets good fuel economy, and I haven't had any issues with it yet.

My mom has had her XG350 (also bought used) for a couple years now, and has had zero issues with it. I'm definitely going to be buying another Hyundai when this one finally kicks the bucket (I'm expecting to last to 200k miles at absolute minimum).

They're just not the tin-can cars they used to be.

Also: that sports car looks hot as hell.

However from what I can read, you seem to be a rookie in this profession. And I don't think you are going to last long.

Nice try. You'd think a "professional" would be able to recognize when something's a bit out of whack.

The Genesis sedan with the V8 has a 0-60 of around 5.5. With the V6 available in the coupe, it's 6.1. The turbo 4 has 90 fewer horsepower than the V6, so your figure of under 6 seconds for the R model is impossible.

Are those american magazines?, my guess is the GTI (the Golf-Rabbit for that matter) lacks there the competition it really gets here in Europe… There are several euro compacts that would demolish the GTI, besides that and what really matters -to me- even if you happen to find them worth, VWs are damn expensive to maintain.

The all-new Golf is as boring as the last two iterations have been, it is anybody surprise people finds the Scirocco to be a good looking car… upon VW standards.

I just can't get past the Hyundai badge. But if I could, I'd go with AWD. Since I have to deal with winters and all.

No, not enough said. Hyundai has now beat out every single American and European auto maker in quality, never mind price. They're great cars for the price. No, wait. Actually, they're just great cars.

goddamn, they're going to sell an assload of these. pretty much the only thing even close for the money is the MS3, and that's FWD.

three years ago if you'd told me there'd be a hyundai i'd seriously desire in the same three year span, i'd have told you to get your head examined.

How can one horse be 45 horses? Is that one horse on a ton of steroids and special sugar cubes and hay?

What...you're disagreeing with me?

The Coupe's 3.8 puts out 306/263 and the turbo four puts out 210/223, and the V6 weighs about 79 pounds more.

Not at all. Just sayin' that there's usually way more factors involved than simply horsepower.

This is not the next WRX. The interior is too nice, the seats are too comfortable, it doesn't look like a frog. This is the Korean Mustang.
