President Trump ran on the promise to Make America Great Again (MAGA). After the first year, I'd expect it to be solidly started. He's had almost 3/4 of a full term to get it done. With both houses of Congress under Rep control for most of that time.

Granted, I often don't pay attention to politics. I'm paying attention to the impeachment inquiry now. But for most of the past 3 years, I just followed tech news.

Anyway, I haven't noticed any growing greatness. Not even sure what I should be seeing. So how is MAGA going? Is there any tangible progress to point to?

You didn't seriously believe he was going to make America any better at all did you? "Make America Great Again" meant rounding up illegal latino immigrants and deporting them. Bonus "greatness" for stealing their kids and treating them like livestock.
I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....

1. Supreme Court Judges (Evangelicals got their wish)
2. Economy is doing great (through untenable deficit spending that will eventually crash hard)
3. Anti-immigrant sentiment risen (racists are pleased)
4. Trade war initiated (good businessman = tough negotiator)
5. Owning the libs (liberals triggered = win)

Trump voters should, in general, be pleased.

I kind of hope he gets reelected so that the economy crashes while he's in office. If he gets voted out and everything comes to a head in a couple of years with a Democratic president in charge...

I hope he gets locked up like he clearly deserves to be.

The crowd at the Nats/Astros game Sunday night certainly thought so.

You raise a good point. Economy was trending up during Obama (really had no place else to go...) and Trump took credit for that. His changes have made big business happy and fooled a lot of people. Some have realized jobs aren't coming back.

Other presidents have been boo'd, the difference here is that Trump clearly did not expect it. The roar of applause for the troops on the big screen so quickly changed when he came in view... might be the first dose of reality he's seen, since he is usually inside a MAGA rally bubble.

I guess this means I’m back.

Take the slogan at face value.

America’s greatness was at a previous time. To become great again we must regress to a previous time.

Have we regressed? If so, he‘s made good on his promise. By this metric I imagine the entire political spectrum considers him wildly successful.

There are people for whom this is very attractive. Lots of them apparently.

Why? What attracts them to it?

The Democrats can’t answer this question. They don’t want to. To do so would entail being sympathetic to a moral code they find viscerally repulsive.

Unfortunately, it’s a disastrous strategic position to be in. Understanding the enemy is Conflict 101.

I think the confusion here is expecting congress to do anything that doesn't: A. Get them a pay raise. B. Get them kickbacks.
