3) and how do you do the beginning burst? Holding the button down at the last second isn't working for me.

Not sure about 1 and 2, but for 3 what I do is hold the gas from the very beginning. Then, about one second before you take off, quickly let go of the gas and hold it down right after.

1) IIRC it is getting a gold cup in all cups
2) A lot, around 30-40
3) Forget what stefanicotine said, you have to hold the gas full around the middle of the 3 seconds count before start, so that is in the middle of when 2 is shown.

And

4) This has zero to do with games and the Mac

Do what works for you. There isn't a formula for getting the boost everytime. Find a groove and stick with it. I always get my boost, why is my way wrong?

Chrismccorkie, you should try both. Neither of us are wrong. Do what works best for you, man. I wanna see you mastering the snake technique soon

1. http://www.gamefaqs.com/portable/ds/code/920788.html

3. Hold down the gas just after the "2" in the countdown appears, and keep holding it until the race starts to get a boost. I know two other people had two other methods, I don't know if those work, but this is the one I use and it works every time and what GameFAQs also says.

36 go-karts and 12 drivers… but if you want an additional driver, get a multiplayer game with someone but using only one Mario Kart DS cartridge, this way the player without cartridge gets Shy Guy, funny since there is no way as far as I know you can play with Shy Guy as 'solo' mode.
