Can someone link me to the "Petey Got a Mac" movie? All the links I've found are dead.

I have it on my hard drive, it's actually spelt Petie. Try searching for that. If you can't find it I'll host it for you.

Be warned: file is hosted on 128k/s DSL, very little bandwidth. I suggest someone else download and mirror it.

Well, I'm glad that he got a Mac, and that he likes it, but... is this guy insane?

That's what people think all Mac users are like.
I thought monkey man resides either in Redmond or in the White House

Does anyone know what that music is? I keep on hearing it on adverts and things, but I have no idea what it is.
I want to know what the FedEx guy was thinking when he walked through that door.
I can probably mirror it if anybody wants.

I recently asked him about the song.
It's: Lord of the Rings - Two Towers Trailer Song (Clint Mansell - Requiem for a Dream Remix)
- Thilo

Ah yes, it was in the LOTR Two Towers: The Game trailer that I heard it, I think.

Perhaps someone who has it could put it up on BitTorrent? That way we can share the load. I'm curious as to what this is...

Thank you Angus_D, I thoroughly enjoyed the film. The music definitely enhanced the mood of the film. I could actually feel his excitement. Causes me to want a G5 even more.
I certainly would like to have a copy if the film if possible, thank you.

Yes, it's the Summer Overture from Requiem For A Dream or Generic Trailer Theme as it's now called, replacing Karl Orff's O Fortuna from Carmina Burana.

I'm not sure anybody cares, but it turns out I was recognising the strings from Zoo York (Paul Oakenfold - Bunkka).

I think it's endearing. Think about it-- that's a lot of kit he's getting there-- you could get a resonable used car. Think about how excited you'd be getting $2000.00 anything at that age. Sure, it's a big deal. And it's a pretty well edited little movie he made, too. He has some talent and it's cool that his folks are supporting his ambitions as well as they are.

Thanks Angus_D for housing this... I just watched it for the first time. I really enjoyed it, it had me laughing out loud a few times. Tons better than the usual "here's an iPhoto album of me unpacking my Mac" stuff.

I remember the day I got my mac, this is my first mac too. I had been wanting one for 2 years, if not more. I remember how it started, my dad came back from a business trip, with a taped-together 333Mhz PC laptop, he dropped it in the Hong Kong airport and demolished it. So, my dad was laptopless, so we took a trip to CompUSA, and there I saw the Apple section, I was in awe at how beautiful it was. Of course by instinct I went straight to the PowerMacs, cause they're the biggest ones, and they had the biggest screens. I was amazed at how the GUI looked and how fast it ran. After about an hour and a half of getting to know the system, my dad said it was time to go, I refused until he agreed to buy one, I was desperate, I even settled for the iBook, it was the cheapest model. I was however escorted out of the store, commie bastards.
____
Next day, I convinced my dad to take me to CompUSA once again. After a while of arguing, he gave me a choice: iBook or iMac. Of course I settled for the iMac, it was better afterall. But, oh how I regret not pushing for a PowerMac. It seemed like a lifetime waiting for the clerk to explain the warranty and all, and the drive back home was murder, but finally we made it home. Unpacking the computer itself was orgasmic, as you all know, Apple does a superb job at packaging their products. After a bit of plugging this into that, etc. I was up and running, only to be greeted with a welcome in many languages, oh how great it felt to be greeted by something so...ber. And that was my first experience with the excellence of Apple. If I could, I'd give it all back just to experience learning the mac all over again, because it truly is a great thing.

I have just cringed so hard that I will be constipated for a month.
That video is so painfully depressing, that anyone could get possibly *that* excited about a hunk of prettily injection moulded plastic.
I really like Macs, I infact will never EVER go back to the disaster that is "Windows", but for the love of everything that is good and pure, WTF was that video from Mister Jim Carrey Wannabe for?!?! Someone is going to be the next Star Wars kid methinks.
Time for beaties Petie! >; D
Ack, you foolish sixteen year olds, don't you see they want you to react in that way! STOP THIS NOW!!
One day there'll be www.macwhores.com and lil' boys (you) will be beatin' off to images of two pink anodised aluminium mini iPods, doing a 69.

He represents everything wrong with Mac addicts and pushes the stereotype.
1) All Mac users are wealthy
2) All Mac users are fanatics
3) All Mac users are anti Microsoft

The annoying thing is if I had done this I would have been made fun of like the star wars wannabe dude.
Good riddance I tell ya.
Note for the masses: I think some of the stuff I did when I got my powermac was equally stupid. I opened the damn box in the parking lot of the store and alladat.

I'll admit that I was a little scary when I picked up my first Mac (forcing my roommate to drive me to the Fed-Ex drop off location with only minutes to spare). I didn't open the box at the drop off location, but I will also admit that I wanted to...
