The palm rest is covered by an extended Apple replacement program, you could probably get that fixed. I just had a bunch of out-of-warranty MacBooks replaced for free.

Agreed! I had one of these back in the day and I loved it. Looks like it has now been repackaged and dubbed the Cr-48 as of recently.
