I am new to Mac, and waiting for my OSx beta, I am told that partitioning my HD is the best way to install mac OSX, how do I do this in mac OS9 install?

If you go to the Utilities folder, you should find Drive Setup. When you ask it to initialize the drive, it should present you with partitioning options. Be advised that you will be erasing the contents of the disk when you do this, so back everything up, unless it's a brand new machine, which you can restore from the provided CD.

Also, The first time I partitioned for OSX PB I did it the default quick way. OS 9 felt slow, so after a week I did it again, this time choosing the option Zero All Data. It took two hours compared to the two seconds it took the first time, but it was worth it.
