Has it been a while since you rebooted? Try that.

2 days of uptime isn't going to cause a slowdown on any modern OS.
Check Activity Monitor; what's using all of your CPU time and memory?

Could you post that list and include the CPU/RAM usage for each.

^Transmission is a Bittorrent client. I suggest the OP to look through those apps especially the Soulseek client he has running and see if people are downloading off of him, that would cause some slowdown.

Filesharing apps, especially BitTorrent clients, can be extremely greedy. Try quitting some of them.

Remember that torrents and torrent-like apps can have you serving up data to as many other users as your computer can establish concurrent connections for. Keeping such apps running WILL slow down everything you do. If you want to stay in the P2P networks you're using these with, you might consider scheduling some time when you won't be using the computer to let it "serve the masses" for you, and leave the apps off when you're actually using the machine yourself.
