I just bought a used ipod and cannot figure how to reset the email address to mine. I don't want to read the previous owners private emails

Connect it to your computer. Click on the iPod's name in the left sidebar of iTunes. In the main iTunes window, then click "Restore". This will wipe the iPod clean of everything on it, including all settings, and let you set it up as if it were brand new.
