And just because one person doesn't find it funny doesn't mean it's not.

Son of Pismo. Oh, that's taken, right?
My Mac is a Pismo G4/550: 1GB RAM, 40GB 5.4k, Airport, DVD-R, and still black, silent and curvaceous!

Does it matter? The black MacBook is the same as the 2GHz white model with an 80GB HDD. I wouldn't give it a different name any more then I would call a 15" 2.16GHz MBP a 'SlightlyBetterBook Pro'.

I think that we need a black person to tell us if its okay to laugh at African-AmericanBook. I could see it going either way way but then again I'm white. I just wanna know for sure though before I start using it.

Why?

You are aware I typed "Niger" and not the racial slur...

Niger is a latin derivative/word meaning black or dark.

My suggestion is perfect.

Many scientists studying nomenclature would agree.

i cant say for other black people, but i myself, just didnt think it was funny. but i would not be surprised if white people are more likely find it funnier than black people.

now the guy who posted after you thats just plain offensive.

How about BlackMagic? DarthVaderBook?

BlackBook will do just fine.

As an aside: Need a better name than MacBook Pro. The "Pro" addendum is really dead, as in: the little brother to the MacBook Pro is the MacBook Amateur.

I made a similar joke about pianos in a Music Theory class one time. ("African-American keys.") I was blown away by the reaction I got in the (all-caucasian) room: total, stunned silence. I thought it was a pretty simple, quick, harmless joke... I've tried it a few times since then, an a social experiement. It seems to go over better in a mixed crowd. Might not work so well on a message board.

Shabba, I think you'd be hard pressed to find anyone to agree with your proposal, nomenclaturologist or no.
