Overall we're pretty underwhelmed with the Olympics so far, and the Rio experience has been a nightmare, but I can't stop singing the praises of one particular athlete.

She is absolutely breathtaking to watch, seemingly defying the laws of physics, and proof that hard work and dedication overcomes anything.

Yeah her floor routine is bananas, she generates so much power seemingly without any effort.

I've been enjoying the swimming events, been a long time Mike Phelps fan. Thought Brazil was a poor choice, especially because it is winter there, not summer. duh.

But what I find underwhelming is NBC's coverage - too many commercials, too much fluff, and they only focus on the American teams. Every Olympics it's the same old BS... Next one will be different, I'll be in Tokyo for 2020 so sayonara NBC.

NBC is utterly atrocious at Olympic coverage, I find myself muting it all the time.

Also, there are too many swimming events, cut out at least 50% of them.

the swimming events have many semi-finals, and because big name Americans are in most of them it's being covered extensively.

trick for annoying NBC coverage: DVR. When the games start, press pause. Then go make dinner. Come back and watch the events only now you can zip past the BS

Most of my usage of "television" is on the free digital converter box they make you get and the NBC Olympics app on the fire TV.

When I come back to watch broadcast TV for things like sports I am always appalled at the amount of commercials. I will never pay for cable television again. DVR would be sweet, but again, haven't had a cable subscription since the early aughts.

What is this "television" you speak of?
Why is there always money for war, but none for education?

After the diving pool turned green a few days ago, it has now been closed. They tried to fix it with more chlorine in it and the water polo pool next to it, but then there was so much that they couldn't see properly in the pool. Now it's closed so that the still water can clear the green colour, that's the plan anyway. It also smells of farts.

And the reason for the green pool is... 'somebody' put 160 litres of hydrogen peroxide in there, which neutralised the chlorine, which allowed 'organic compounds', possibly algae, to grow in the pool and turn it green. It's now been drained and refilled (over 3 million litres of water)

I don't have a TV and am overseas. Does anyone know a website where I can watch some of the pre-recorded events? I am particularly interested in swimming, diving, track and field, and gymnastics events. Youtube is awful in this regards.

People give Bolt a lot of sh*t for phoning the early heats in, but they need to remember he isn't running just one race and the harder he pushes himself the more likely it is he'll get injured. A torn ligament is career death for a sprinter.

If you have cable, the secondary NBC channels have been showing a lot of the downticket events. We caught table tennis the other night. Fencing. Judo. There's still a lot of the NBC human-interest filler, but at least it's a lot of events that usually go unnoticed

I have to say, this wasn't the shit show many were expecting, green pool aside.

Maybe in a few months we'll be hearing about all the people that got sick from the water or zika or whatever.

I think Bolt irks people because they don't think he has ever tried to set his best possible record time. He might have missed his own peak.
Or maybe its because he's a Man United fan. They are the worst.

Usain is the Jimi Hendrix of running. + People hate when you make something so hard look so easy.
