I got my old iBook back! (yay) I had to bust it apart and clean it up and bend some metal (it got stepped on by dan who i sold it to,) but its still alive - Amazingly! So here's a new pic.

Speaking of which - does anyone have an old clam-ibook they're parting out? I need a new (not bent) keyboard and some other stuff.

Dangit, I really need to get a clamshell. Why do they cost so much???? Heh, before I started looking for one, I was expecting to spend 200 dollars tops for the 466 model. Seems that I was a bit naive.

ahem...It's because iBook users are ashamed that they don't own Powerbooks.

hopefully that does the trick to get these people to post.

nice one
There were once four people named Everybody, Somebody, Nobody and Anybody. Somebody had to do a job, but Nobody wanted to do it. Nobody could see that Anybody could do it, and Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job. Nobody ended up doing it, and it so happened that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

Thanks!

The iBook is sitting on an old Sun harddrive case which passed away a couple years ago.

Thanks! I took the top case off the LCD and stuck some carefully cut coloured translucent plastic over the glowing logo. The actual material I used was dividers of the three-ring binder variety.

I will be getting rid of the 19inch monitor and my Dell PC (which will help clean up all those ugly wires/cables).

There's nothing like sittin on a PC waiting for the few months left until you get your very own iBook.

Until then, I get my joys looking off your pictures.

So... reading the page on that desk:
http://www.storehousefurniture.com/s...dno=26DMM800TC
The legs are real cherry, but the rest is veneer? Does it look like solid wood?

I ask because I'm in need of a new desk for the new office in my new house. That's a nice looking setup there.

The top and sides are veneer. The desk is of good quality nonetheless. The desk looks like solid wood. This desk is great because of the style, the extra large sliding keyboard drawer, and under desk leg room.

damn looking at this thread makes me very excited. i ordered my ibook last week. my first apple equipment and quite scared how i'll be able to get used to a new OS but to compensate the fear, bought a dell desktop, and to make my day even better a canon sd20 digital camera. sooo........i hope i won't get disappointed with the ibook, but as i can tell from y'all...it's all worth the money!

Here's mine...

I made this iBook stand for about $6 out of 1/2 inch PVC pipes. I have a 15 inch Samsung SyncMaster 151s monitor in spanning mode. Under the PVC stand, I have a 160 GB Firewire Drive and a DVD burner. You can only see the rim of color around the frame, but I got an old iBook G3 cover and painted it royal blue and then put it on my iBook G4. I copied the idea of having a red and green apple logo on the top cover.

Nice, straightforward and effective setup there, zacharydz. And really nice work with the cover/painted Apple too. We have very nice setups in this thread! Hopefully, one of the next will be my own.

That's a nice setup, Zach! I gotta get me one of those keyboard covers. Don't they cost like $30? Doesn't matter the cost, I've killed my keyboard with soda for the last time.

I really like the paint job.

Yeah, they cost about $30, but I've had too many close calls with drinks that I figured it would be better to play it safe. They take a bit to get used to, but after that are ok.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention, if you spilled pop or somethign on your keyboard, (turn it off if BT) and soak it in distilled water for a day or so and let it completely dry. That will probably make it work again. That has saved a number of my keyboards.
