Doesn't seem to work now. New iMac came with Tiger and I immediately installed Leopard after doing an erase-and-install from the Leopard DVD. Now it won't boot from the Leopard DVD. Could it be related to my failing hard drive? The iMac booted from the Tiger system restore disc with no problem (I wanted to run DU from it to verify the hard drive status).

Booting from a CD or DVD doesn't involve the hard drive.

Try booting from another bootable CD/DVD media to determine if the optical drive is bad or your Leopard Install disk is bad.
