Given that the Mac is losing ground to Apple handhelds, wouldn't it be a good time to re-factor the forums into:
Ppc macs
Intel macs
Mac software, including osx
iPhone, itouch and software
Ipads and software
Apple tv
iPods, big and small
Cocoa developers
Non apple stuff, including lounge and pl
It wouldn't do justice to the venerable Mac platform, but in steve's way, iOS is the focus of the company, and the market is responding positively. This refactoring would bring parity to the post count of all sections.

Combining desktop and laptop forums would be a very poor choice. But I like the notion of some separation for iOS devices.

Basing a support forum's organization on a company's marketing strategy doesn't seem like a good idea.

More like my opinion of cutting Mac coverage in favor of iOS.

The iPad is the new kid on the block. Traditionally, we've split forums once traffic warrants a splitting. Otherwise it's more work to move threads from one forum to another.

I don't visit the iPod/iPad forum much since I don't own an iOS device (although I'll order a new iPod touch soon). Is there sufficient iPad-specific traffic?
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

Now that you've cut the text, yes.
