I have a large directory of shots off of a digital camera I have that I need to be able to create albums for.

I've created the albums but the pictures import, but never show up anywhere. Any ideas on this? The
software is great but also extremely annoying when it comes to using it with shots I've already imported
into the computer.

Anyone know the trick to fix this?

This was covered in a previous thread, but basically iPhoto won't retain your existing filing system for your photos. You have to recreate it anew from within iPhoto. All your existing photos just end up in the main library view, and then you have to drag and drop into new albums.

I toyed with iPhoto but pretty quickly dumped it in favor of the shareware GraphicConverter (which I always used before). GraphicConverter does everything iPhoto can do and alot more, but uses the Finder's native file system, saving you your current headache.

I think a lot of users are going to stay away from iPhoto until/unless filing issues are addressed.

I figured it out, sort of.

I deinstalled and reinstalled iPhoto.

Until I did this I could import until I was blue in the face but
nothing showed up. Deinstall/reinstall fixed this problem.

Then I reimported directories with photos in them.

Then I created albums that corresponded with the directories.

Now I've got thousands of photos online @ once.

Yeah, and you also have duplicates of your photos because iPhoto COPIES them into its weird, nonintuitive directory structure instead of creating links to your originals like iTunes. Ridiculous.

I'm sticking with GraphicConverter until Apple fixes this, if they ever do.
